I called the dealership and was told I should have the car towed.90 minutes later the car was on its way to your service center. That afternoon I got a call from Trent with a overview of the problem. He hoped it would be resolved by Wed afternoon. I was shocked when I received a call saying the car was ready. We proceeded to the dealership and was given a complete explanation of the problem and the solution. Trent was professional and positive. It was really a rewarding experience that I am not use to at other dealerships. This was the third time I had been to the dealership and all have been positive. john Sullo More

The next day, the check engine light went off before I dropped the car off. Even without the light, they were able to diagnose the problem and fix it instead of telling me that nothing could be done. power steering assist fault on 2011 Ford Explorer I was having problems with my power steering locking up preventing me from steering at all. it would usually do this at low speeds, pulling into a par I was having problems with my power steering locking up preventing me from steering at all. it would usually do this at low speeds, pulling into a parking spot or backing out. It would disable the steering with no warning. Pushing the "OK" button would not reset it. I had to turn the car off. Starting the car after a few seconds cleared it and I could go on my way. However, a week before I made the appointment to take my car in... I was making a right hand turn onto a 3 lane busy street. Upon making the turn into my lane, again the steering locked up. I was unable to turn the car into my lane on the right, ended up in the middle lane with on coming traffic in the other 2 lanes. Thank God, those other drivers were paying attention and stopped because I had to turn my car off and on again to move out of the way! Later that night I went on line to search other similar issues or causes. OH, MY GOSH!!! There were multiple websites with literally hundreds of people with the very same issue who own Explorers. After reading many of them I thought...Geez, looks like I am going to have a battle on my hands trying to get Ford to fix this. In my mind this is a very serious safety issue. Many of these responses from people were having to pay for the repairs themselves, costing up to $2000.00. I bought this car new, it has 96,000 miles on it, I have taken very good care of it and have had the 2 recalls done. the steering issue, I cannot remember exactly what it was for honestly, in 2014 and the cabin carbon monoxide issue. I parked my car until I was able to take it in. Well, when I took it to Don Chalmers Ford the service rep who helped me actually "listened" to my issues. His name is Trent Durham, he was awesome! He called me later that day to tell me the repairs were going to be covered under an extended warranty! Boy, was I relieved! It was to the tune of $1600.00. I really thought I was going to have to fight for this, reading all the bad responses to this very same problem. I have been a Ford owner for most of my driving life having my previous vehicles at least 10 years before buying another. Ford has restored my faith in their products. I will continue to be a Ford owner. More
