This was my s First let me start off with I don't ever write reviews, but I had to with this one since this was a very expensive/big purchase for me. This was my second purchase from Down’s Ford and once again the exceeded my expectations. Too often do dealers get a bad rap for poor customer service or for pushy sales people, but not here. I had purchased a Mustang back in 2002 and loved it, but when I moved out of the state I needed something with 4x4 due to snow. As such, I traded it in and went with a Nissan Xterra in 2006. Fast Forward to today, I wanted to get back into a Ford and I shopped the local dealers up here in Connecticut, but felt I wasn’t getting the best dealer and felt they were a bit of your typical dealers. So, I decided to give Down’s Ford a call and chat with Gene who had helped me back in 2002. He happily took my call and through our discussions I decided it was worth taking the 2.5 hour trek down to Toms River for this big purchase. I’m very happy that I took that 2.5 hour trip and didn’t force myself into using only the local dealers. Gene (General Sales Manager) set me up with one of his Sales Consultants, Shannon Lewis, who was such a pleasure to work with. We conversed multiple times over the phone and she had everything ready for me when I showed up. I had the most pleasant and painless experience buying my brand new 2014 F150 and I will never go anywhere else when buying another Ford. The 2.5 hour drive saved me not only a headache but also a ton of cash as they easily crushed the pricing I was seeing up here. So long story short, this is a 5-star dealer and I highly recommend stopping in and seeing what Gene and Shannon can do for you. More

He was knowledgeable, listened to our needs and gave us a multiple of choices. He made the lease of a new Escape Titanium and the purchase of a Ford Explorer easy, and with no apprehension. Gene stepped in and continued to help and propose a deal that was better than expected and again make us feel like we worked as team to secure good pricing, financing and the cars we wanted and more. Vince in contracts was a pleasure to work with in pulling the deal to conclusion. This is a professional team with many options available to assist in making you feel comfortable in getting what you expect and more. I cannot say thank you enough to the whole team!!!! They have won our business for a long time to come.... More
I recently purchased a used Lexus from Downs Ford. Mike Quinn was the sale associate who sold me the car. Before going to Downs I had visited other dealers selling the same make and model I purchased. Do Quinn was the sale associate who sold me the car. Before going to Downs I had visited other dealers selling the same make and model I purchased. Downs was by far the most professional and inspired the most confidence. The car itself was priced at the low end of the range based on my researching the make and model online for a few months prior to purchasing it. However, when you include the one year warranty on all major systems that is a part of the price, the Downs Ford price is really much lower. Working with Mike was a pleasure. He is very low key and professional. Unlike other dealers I visited, I never felt pressured. When Mike asked if a wanted to leave a deposit it was not a high pressure pitch, just a simple question so he judge what to do next. I left a small deposit and came back the next morning to pay the balance. The car was ready and prepped, and one little repair (replace a wiper blade) that I asked for was done. Mike introduced me to a few other folks at Downs who explained warranty options and their service center. If you are going to buy a car, I would recommend you visit Downs Ford and ask for Mike Quinn. Contacted deal about a 2012 Expedition listed with 21K miles for $31k. Carfax showed it was a rental purchased at auction 3 months ago with a second identical vehicle (Blue Eddie Bauer). I scheduled a l miles for $31k. Carfax showed it was a rental purchased at auction 3 months ago with a second identical vehicle (Blue Eddie Bauer). I scheduled a late morning visit for today (Saturday July 20th, 2013). I received a call on Friday confirming my appointment for Friday (something wrong on there end). I arrived at 10:45am and was greeted by a salesperson as I stepped out of my truck. Chris was the sales person, he was friendly and welcomed me. I let him know that I had spoken with Jennifer several days earlier. So, we went inside and he retrieved my information from Jennifer. After a few minutes he returned to tell me that the vehicle I drove an hour to see was not there, nor was the second identical one. The owner had taken the first vehicle to a family event (there explanation), and the second truck was taken to Boston by a sales person and his girlfriend. Chris said the owner could have it back in 45minutes. So I walked around the lot for 40 minutes and sat in a waiting area for about 20-25 more minutes. Another sales person (I think related to the owner), thanked me for being patient. After about an hour Chris (salesperson) said the truck was being washed and would be out in a few minutes for a test drive. Ten minutes later the truck was "ready" for me to inspect. First the truck was dirty inside, stains on the backs of the second and third row seats, stains on the carpets (all seating), dust everywhere, and a a fair amount of dings, nicks, etc... (but nothing that was a deal breaker). Overall the truck was not prepared or maintained well for a 2012 thats been on the lots for 3months. By the way, most of the new vehicles on the lot were dirty. I took the truck for a test drive and inspected it. All was in good working order. So, I decided to see what kid of deal we could put together. Let's just say that the sales manager is a low low baller that looks to steal your car from you. They offered me 20K for my 2011 Chrysler 300C with all option (expect AWD), a $50K car new two years ago, now with 28K miles and in excellent condition, no dings, dents, etc... NADA and KBB trade values were between 25K-27k. The best they would offer for my trade was 22.5K (way below blue book) and well below wholesale of 24K. The salesmanager tried to play the "Your car has tire issues, so that 1K off the trade". What xx. the vehicle I was looking at had more miles on its tires and it's tires had a lower life (40k, cheaper tires). They did not even consider lower their price. They tried to get me to stay by offering to call a wholesaler. But this is a joke, they had other brands of vehicles on their lots which dated back to 2007 with 100K miles. So, why would they expect to wholesale a luxury car with low miles and not quite two years old. I walked out in about 5 minutes of setting down to talk numbers. They wasted my time, fuel and energy. I all ask is that I'm treated fairly, I'm not looking to screw a dealer, they need to make a reasonable profit in order to stay in business, but this dealer is looking to steal from customers. I feel bad for the sale staff, they were friendly, but must be going crazy to close deals with a crappy salesmanager like Big John. STAY AWAY. More
Everyone one at the dealer we talked to seemed to be nice, but the price for my 2011 Traverse trade-in was ridiculous. The Traverse only has around 25k miles on it. BUT it was in a car accident so it ha nice, but the price for my 2011 Traverse trade-in was ridiculous. The Traverse only has around 25k miles on it. BUT it was in a car accident so it had a "bad" carfax, which I understand hurts its resale value. So I was interested that day to buy a new car from anywhere until I did more research on my cars value myself. But the next week when I went to a different dealer (Jeep this time), they offered me about 10k more for my Traverse than what Downs did. As I was curious about my "bad" car fax, the salesman I worked with told me that the car most likely will be shipped to mexico due to that fact it was a in very minor cosmetic accident. I would recommend this dealer as far as their service ( I can't guarantee that since I didn't spend no more than 45 mins there). But for their pricing my experience wasn't satisfying. More
I built a new Ford Edge online, and did my research regarding pricing. Showed up at Downs Ford and after walking the lot, ended up finding exactly what I wanted (plus the Ford Touch system, which wasn regarding pricing. Showed up at Downs Ford and after walking the lot, ended up finding exactly what I wanted (plus the Ford Touch system, which wasn't a must have, but very happy I got it). Well, after talking with Frank (part owner & Sales manager), he hooked me up with Shannon, who put together the paperwork, and I got my new Edge for exactly what I wanted to pay. and got the trade-in value that I expected. No hassles at all. When I came back the next week to pick up my registration and plates, they had included the CD I left in my trade-in. That was very nice of them. Overall, a great experience, and obviously a family operation. More
The sales rep. showed no interest in selling us a car what so ever. It's not like the were busy. The sales rep. (who name he never gave) kept telling me "yea you dont want that". Also told me that they can't give me a good deal on a lease. Never once did he do a credit check on us. That night while watching tv I saw their ad, what false advertisement. More
