I can honestly say I have never had a comfortable , stress free exper I had high hopes walking into Lester Glenn of Manahawkin yesterday (6/4/2012). I can honestly say I have never had a comfortable , stress free experience at an auto dealership, and yesterday kept the bad streak going. To begin with, I did a lot of research on line as to what type of vehicle would suit my needs, and which dealers in the state had the best reputation. I decided on LG Hyundai because of the products and the reported low stress atmosphere LG was supposedly known for. My situation is this, I am currently in a high percentage loan on my 2008 Ford, I was looking for options as to my ability to get into a lower mileage vehicle and stay within my budget. I have already secured an auto refinance loan at a lower rate, but wanted to explore possible options of a newer vehicle. I had emailed the week before with Talia ( she was also wonderful;) , Talia told me to ask for Tom or Scott when I got to the dealership, Tom was extremely pleasant and introduced me to Joe Schmitt who worked with me for the next few hours. Joe was wonderful ! Extremely patient and very personable. Joe made the extra effort to understand my situation, and helped me explore the options available to me. The problem's for me started with Scott McIlvaine. Early in the "negotiations" Scott appeared to want to help me out, but the longer I questioned prices and terms, the more aggravated Scott became. Eventually Scott began throwing about terms and numbers, hoping I wouldn't realize the shell game he was playing. At one point I was debating a certified pre-owned 2008 Santa Fe, with half the miles of my current vehicle, I was allowed to take the vehicle for a ride. During that period I researchd the KBB value on the Santa Fe, and saw that the sticker price was within a couple hundred dollars of the fair market value, ( at about 19700)imagine my distress when I did the math on Scotts offer and realized he wanted me to pay around 24000 for the vehicle AND put me into a 7-8 year loan. I returned to the dealership and thanked Joe for his time and patience, returned the keys and stated I would be staying in my Ford, and that obviously right now it was not monetarily feasible to purchase a new or previously owned vehicle. I also told Joe that I had done the math and was pretty upset that Scott wanted me to pay 24000 for a used vehicle that would be 11 years old by the time I paid for it. Next Scott decided to give me a better price on my trade in and put me back into a new Santa Fe. I went with Joe and looked at the vehicle, I was open to the option, but wanted a couple of days to think over the offer, I told Joe I would either call him or return to the dealership ion 6/6. I was asked to speak with Scott one more time before I left, I should have just left then. Scott came back to the desk, waving his offer on a piece of paper once again trying to "explain" to me why I was should take the deal, and that I needed to look at the numbers again. I then got very angry, I asked Scott if he believed I couldn't do Math and he just stared at me. Scott seemed fixated on me having called a friend and discussed my options, to the point where he told me to have my friend come to the dealership and see the car, and he would talk to my friend," from Boonville or wherever you live" ( I would have thought if Scott was going to insult my intelligence he would have at least looked at my information and gotten my hometown correct) . That is when I decided my trip to LG was over, I stood up, told Scott he was an A**, and walked out of the dealership. Joe followed me out to my vehicle as I was visibly upset, he was professional and apologized for the events that had happened. I thanked Joe and left the lot. Why does it need to be so difficult and underhanded ?? Why is it impossible for me to walk into a dealership, be given the bottom price that I can purchase a vehicle for so I can look into financing options on my own ? Let me start by saying, after a horrible experience at another hyundai dealer, i was on the fence about even buying one. After meeting John it seemed like we knew eachother for years. Between him and Dave another hyundai dealer, i was on the fence about even buying one. After meeting John it seemed like we knew eachother for years. I bought a new Tuscon yesterday and was thrilled with not only the car but the dealership. John Silivanch was the salesperson and was wonderful. Not only did he not pressure me but he took time to show me only the car but the dealership. John Silivanch was the salesperson and was wonderful. Not only did he not pressure me but he took time to show me comparisons to other cars I was considering and to work to get me the price I felt comfortable with. The people in the dealership are friendly and helpful. I can honestly say, I had the best car buying experience I have ever had at Lester Glenn yesterday. Tom Allen helped with the pricing and was friendly and helpful. I would hope if I ever need to buy a car again that these two gentlemen will be there to work with me. Keep it up, Lester Glenn! I have so many nice things to say I don't know where to start! First off when we got there it was close to closing time but yet we weren't rushed at all. Scott and John (GM)were happy to help us. Tony was our salesman and he was a great help. I can honestly say it was the best treatment we received at a Car Dealership! I felt like they were on our side. Best part was the time they took with us, explaining many things in detail so that we fully understood. At the end of the deal Tony went over all the features of the car in full detail with much patience :) He told us he was happy for us, he was happy to be able to give us such a great deal and I believe he was sincere! I'm recently divorced, and purchasing a car on my own was new to me. My husband always took care of these things, so I was lost when it came to understanding cars. I had pretty much decided on a Honda Accord, but then came in to Lester Glenn to look a Hyundai. I'm a previous BMW, M/Benz, & Jaguar owner, so I wasn't sure what to expect in a Hyundai, but I knew that I needed to work with a Sales Associate who would take his time and patiently explains things to me. That's when I met John Silivanch. He was courteous, patient and I was extremely impressed with his knowledge of cars in general. After that visit, I excluded the Honda, narrowed my search down to a Genesis coupe, but told John that I needed more time to make a decision. My next visit, he had a coupe ready for me to test drive and I fell in love with the car. I had a M/Benz to trade in and John presented me with a deal that was more than fair. I still had the issue of the M/Benz being register to my husband, and John took care of all of the paperwork involved, spoke with my husband to arrange signatures & agreed to meet him in north Jersey to make sure that the paperwork was complete. John went above and beyond his job to make sure that things went smoothly and that I was comfortable with the whole deal. He treated me like family, not a stranger, and completely put me at ease, never making me feel pressured. You should be proud that he is part of your Lester Glenn family - and lucky because he's a real asset to your dealership. In a time when many people lack a strong work ethic and forget what it means to give 100%, it's refreshing to find someone who gives that and more. I will recommend Lester Glenn, and in the future, most likely purchase another Hyundai from Lester Glenn because of John Silivanch. He made this an easy, enjoyable experience and I couldn't be happier with my Genesis coupe. More
Short, simple and to the point. My wife and I came in and purchased a vehicle from Lester Glenn Manahawkin today. The experience was unlike other car dealers. What we most appreciated was we were treated like people. We felt comfortable and as if we were family by the end of the visit. We would recommend any one we know and hope to get many compliments on my wifes vehicle so we can share with them my experience. We will be sure to pass them to Lester Glenn Hyundai of Manahawkin. Im sure Stan Kraushaar is extremely proud! Great job to the Lester Glenn team of Manahawkin for making my wife and mine vehicle purchase a great time. More
