We purchased a 2018 Kia Optima in July 2024 and drove it home, and on the 3rd day (driven less than 50 miles total since purchasing), the car started lurching on acceleration and shaking upon deceleration w home, and on the 3rd day (driven less than 50 miles total since purchasing), the car started lurching on acceleration and shaking upon deceleration with no illuminated indicator lights from the car’s computer. We took it to an independent mechanic, and they said all spark plugs are very corroded and covered in deposits. They also stated the car had one new coil from a previous attempt to correct the misfire, and the other 3 needed to be replaced. Repair bill for new spark plugs, 3 coils and fuel system clean out was apx $1,600. We reached out to Carz City and asked to them reimburse us for the repair cost since the car was 3 days old (to us) and driven (by us) for less than 50 miles, and it was obvious they tried to cover up the issue at hand. They said their mechanic needed to look at it before they could do anything. We have no faith in their mechanic because it should have already been inspected because any decent mechanic would have diagnosed this issue and fixed it, so why would take it back there for the same person to inspect again? Unless it was never inspected by the dealership, then that is simply a terrible business practice – attaching your name to something you haven’t inspected. After much back and forth with the dealership via phone calls and email, they claim they have offered a partial reimbursement, but they have never offered an actual dollar amount, only that they have offered one. We are still waiting on them to provide their reimbursement offer as of today. More
