I am now driving around a car with expired tags and Carmax is absolutely no help. I have been on phone over 20 hours with them looking for help and all they do is give me the run around. This place is horrible and I hope no one ever has to go through what I've been going through. Do not buy from any CARMAX, they are a horrible company to customers once they have your money. More
As a buyer or a seller, don't go here! I have been to this Car Max twice. The first time I looked at a Toyota Camry. Now, I am not your average car buyer, I spent years in the car sales bus I have been to this Car Max twice. The first time I looked at a Toyota Camry. Now, I am not your average car buyer, I spent years in the car sales business so I kind of know what I am doing. The car was priced $2,000.00 over RETAIL BOOK. Needless to say I did not buy it. I went to a Fiat dealership yesterday and bought a 2015 500, they offered me $1,850.00 in real money for my 2003 Taurus SEL with 87,000 miles and very clean. They were embarrassed to make me that offer. I pulled the trade out of the deal. The guy at Fiat told me to take it to Car Max, so I did. I have never been so insulted in my life, they offered me $1,000.00! These people have no idea what they are doing outside of trying to steal peoples money. Their prices are way out of line as are their appraisals. I will NEVER STEP FOOT IN ANOTHER CAR MAX, AGAIN, EVER! And my personal recommendation is that you don't either, just remember, you have been warned. I hate companies that feel the need to take unfair advantage of people, way to go Car Max! More
Michelle Ho gives Car Max a bad name!!!! First let me start of by saying that I think Car Max is a great place to shop and to get what you’re looking for. I found a car that I really liked bu First let me start of by saying that I think Car Max is a great place to shop and to get what you’re looking for. I found a car that I really liked but it was in Burbank. I had it shipped to Ontario and was very excited about my selection. I arrived and met my sales consultant and that’s where the story went bad. I received an email from Car Max indicating that the car I inquired about would be there in 3 days. Attached to the email was a sales consultant that was assigned to me and her name was Michelle Ho. I called when I got the notification that the car had arrived and Michelle Ho introduced herself and invited me to come in and test drive the vehicle. This is where is went horribly wrong!!! When I arrived, I felt like she treated me like a second class citizen. Her customer service was poor and her attitude was very condescending. Before we went on a test drive, I asked her about the cleanliness of the car and she told me to worry about getting it first. I told her that I didn’t have the full down payment at the time but would have it in 7 days and she seemed very unwilling to work with me to have this happen. I had a loan approval of most of the money, but due to the extended warranty being more than I anticipated, I just needed a little more time. Michelle had no clue about how to make this deal run smooth even though I had everything that my loan required of me (check stubs, references, and bills…everything). Michelle asked me about my paycheck stubs as if I made them up (I’m a school administrator, really?). She wanted to know why my year to date only showed one month, hello!!!! We were in January. Anyway, she put me through so much and as the evening went on, I inquired about getting someone else to help. She acted like she couldn’t come up with clever ways to hold the car for me. I suggested that she put the car in the shop to work on the things that we observed needed attention to buy me a few days and laughingly she agreed and said, I was just going to suggest that. After all of that I was back seven days later and it went even worse. I came in as expected and the car was still filthy and when I asked her about it, she told me that its company policy to not have the car washed before the deal is done. (She’s crazy). A colleague of hers asked if we were being helped and when we told asked him his thoughts on the situation, he said “I would have had the car washed because I wouldn’t want my customers to have to wait”. He also said that he would do it but he didn’t want to step on anyone’s toes. After that she went through the same documents again and asked the same questions as if I changed something or something didn’t make sense to her. As my frustration grew, my girl went to get a manager before I exploded. I asked her if she could get the car washed while we were doing the paperwork and she shushed me as if I were a child. Rene came over and was extremely helpful and wrapped up the transaction in 10 minutes. At one point he was thanking me for our business and she still wanted to know about something that she thought he may have overlooked. My experience with her was horrible and it took everything in me not to go off on her. She is incompetent, thoughtless, unprofessional and someone that I would definitely look at retraining. Everyone else there that I have dealt with were so friendly and professional that it made me realize that it wasn’t a Car Max issue, it was a Michelle doesn’t know how to treat people issue. More
DO NOT SELL YOUR CAR TO THESE PEOPLE - THEY ARE TRYING TO RIP YOU OFF (I work in finance, trust me, I know!!) So, I drove 3 hours to sell my 2006 Honda Civic SI - FULLY loaded, with GPS system and everyth RIP YOU OFF (I work in finance, trust me, I know!!) So, I drove 3 hours to sell my 2006 Honda Civic SI - FULLY loaded, with GPS system and everything! I saw they were selling one similar to mine (without GPS system and several other features) for $17,998 in the same state where I live. As that is the same value I found at Kelly Blue Book, I figured somewhere around $16,000 would be a fair price for my car. Carmax could make $2,000 for doing a little bit of nothing - OK by me. But nooooo... THEY OFFERED ME $12,500. That's only 70% of the Blue Book Value, and a profit to them/loss to me of $5,500! The man that inspected my car told me how nice and clean it was - and what a beautiful car I have, and trust me, it's a very nice, well kept car!! ***$12,500*** ARE THEY SMOKING CRACK?? Never do business with this place - they are crooks!! Run away... as fast as you can! More
CarMax 125 point inspection is a Hoax; they talk about it in the TV, RAIDO, ON Line. It is Hoax! I Bought a 2005 Truck with fewer than 55k miles them at Night, That part is my Bad. I know you should always l in the TV, RAIDO, ON Line. It is Hoax! I Bought a 2005 Truck with fewer than 55k miles them at Night, That part is my Bad. I know you should always look at them in the Daylight. With a 125 Point inspection, I just kind of looked it over, I bought the hype. The sales guys said we will fix anything you find wrong with it to your satisfaction for 30 days. How could I go wrong! On the test drive (no Freeway) there was short the truck was fine. With 30 to fix it to my satisfaction. ON the way home freeway, I felt a pause in the breaking at freeway speeds. No big deal I had my 30days after all. Something also was not right on the freeway in the front end. It also was like driving a bout when you hit the uneven parts of the freeway. I thought it was because it was my first 4x4. I decided to take it the dealer for a look from a Pro. Well that is where it gets good, the dealer told me it needed. Upper shock mount, and shock was shot. Both front shocks are bad. Inner and outer tri rod end are bad. Tires Badly dry rotted and cracked, and very warn Trans pan seaming/ needed to be resealed. Rear drums need to ne turned. I also had the windows tinted as I always do, we at the tint show the guys said. Hey you know that it not the factory back window. So I go look at it and it was not, Odd, the front the bed was also bent, the means some had something in the bed stopped fast and it hit the front of the bed and broke the back window. So much for no accidents. Now I am feeling Lied to. I take it do CarMax to get it fix to my satisfaction! Well, my truck has been in the shop for 2 weeks tomorrow. There favoring to tell me is it meets CarMax Standard. They are Fixing this Upper shock mount, and shock was shot. They are fixing this Both front shocks are bad. WE BOUGHT A CAR FROM CARMAX AND THE NEXT DAY TRIED TO DRIVE IT TO PALM SPRINGS WHICH IS ALMOST 100 MILES FROM OUR HOME. ON THE FREEWAY WHILE WERE GOING 65 MPH BOTH BACK TIRES WENT FLAT! WE WERE BARELY AB DRIVE IT TO PALM SPRINGS WHICH IS ALMOST 100 MILES FROM OUR HOME. ON THE FREEWAY WHILE WERE GOING 65 MPH BOTH BACK TIRES WENT FLAT! WE WERE BARELY ABLE TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY AND EXITED IN AN REMOTE AREA WHERE WE COULD'VE BEEN ROBBED! WE USED OUR AUTO CLUB TO TOW IT BACK TO THE DUARTE CA CARMAX WHERE MY HUSBAND BOUGHT IT. IT TURNED OUT THE VALVE STEMS ON THE TIRES WERE NOT INSTALLED RIGHT (CARMAX TOLD US THAT!). I WAS TOLD THE TIRES WERE FINE, BUT WHEN I SPEND GOOD MONEY ON A CAR I DON'T WANT TIRES THAT HAVE BEEN FLAT ON THE FREEWAY, VALVE STEMS OR NOT ESPECIALLY SINCE WE COULD'VE BEEN KILLED AND IT WASN'T OUR FAULT. I TOLD THEM I WANTED THE TIRES REPLACED! THEY REFUSED AND THEN BROKE DOWN AND OFFERED ME TIRES OF A BRAND I NEVER HEARD OF. THEY WERE SO UNCONCERNED ABOUT WHAT WE WANTED AND WHAT WE WENT THROUGH THAT I TOLD THEM I WAS BRINGING THE CAR BACK AND WASN'T GOING TO PAY A CENT AND I DIDN'T! I HAVE WONDERED IF SOMEONE ELSE ENDED UP BUYING THAT CAR WITH THOSE TIRES THAT WERE FLAT! THEIR WHOLE ATTITUDE WAS WE BOUGHT THE CAR SO THEY COULD JUST DICTATE HOW WE WERE GOING TO HANDLE THINGS ONLY THINGS IS THEIR GRACE PERIOD DIDN'T PASS SO THEY WEREN'T IN THE POSITION TO DO WHAT THEY DO WHEN THE GRACE PERIOD PASSES AND YOUR "STUCK" DOING IT THEIR WAY! If Wal-Mart Sold Cars. All I wanted to do was simply see If Wal-Mart Sold Cars.
All I wanted to do was simply see if I could purchase a vehicle given my less than stellar credit situation. An honest yes If Wal-Mart Sold Cars.
All I wanted to do was simply see if I could purchase a vehicle given my less than stellar credit situation. An honest yes or no would've sufficed.
For those of you thinking about buying from these guys, I URGE you to THINK TWICE! At first, the initial sales person assigned to me seemed courteous, friendly, sincere and intent on helping me get a car. After an extensive search on their website, I found the perfect car (2002 Ford Escape with 17K miles), submitted my request, and was contacted the very next day (a Sunday).
After discussing my situation and options, she invited me to visit their location in person and bring along every bit of financial proof I could muster up. After doing so, a "team" of other sales people gathered to go over my check stubs, bank statements, and tax returns, and ensured me a deal could be made. That next Monday I was contacted with the "good news" that I was approved.
Naturally, I began making plans to welcome my new car which due to it's actual location had to be transfered to the Ontario store. I was told that it would take two days and that i would be notified of its arrival. All I had left to do was bring my down payment. Great right? The car arrives on Wednesday, I go to pick it up, have my check in hand, get the walk-thru, the keys, etc,. So imagine my surprise & disbelief that after all the paperwork, the visits, the assurance, a last minute insurance policy purchase, & the THREE DAYS since my request, the bank all of a sudden "can't take my offer"! Wha-??!!
They pull me aside as I'm writing out my check (keys in hand, mind you) to tell me what could have been said THREE DAYS ago?! And to add insult to injury, a second sales rep (my initial rep oddly missing & no longer in charge) asked for BOTH more $$ down AND a co-signer. So. The moral of the story kids? DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE! Contradictable "salesmen" who care more about their quota and less about you and the cars they sell isn't my idea of "the way car buying should be". More
