CarMax Gastonia

I found a vehicle on the Gastonia, NC Carmax website in that I liked. I went ahead and got all my paperwork and info prepped to make sure that when I arrived the process would be as smooth as possible both that I liked. I went ahead and got all my paperwork and info prepped to make sure that when I arrived the process would be as smooth as possible both for me and the sales rep since I live 1 hour from the dealership and we all know how much of a hassle the process of purchasing a vehicle can be. Everything on my end was done. All that was left was to test drive the vehicle, and get an offer for my trade in. I arrived as early as I could, the gentleman at the front desk asked if I had an appointment and I said no. I didn’t think anything of it. I checked in and was asked to have a seat. Almost 1.5 hours later I asked for an eta and was called back. I gave the Richard the stock number to the vehicle I came to purchase and he tells me that someone went online a couple of hours ago and reserved it for a test drive for TOMORROW and for this reason they can’t sell it to me. I explained that I’m here to purchase the vehicle. I told him that with the exception of something being horribly wrong with the vehicle I’m here to buy. I had already done my homework, I know exactly what I want. My financing is done and I like the price. Richard (who was very polite, professional, and apologetic) went to the manager who took no time in telling him no, that once a vehicle is reserved they cannot sell it. I explained to Richard that if that customer (who had made several appointments already and canceled) doesn’t show they would have turned a DEFINITE sale away for a potential sale which makes NO sense. Richard offered to call me if the vehicle is still available after the appointment tomorrow but I told him that on principle alone just in the fact that I drove 1hr waited another 1.5 hours and I’m now have 1 hour drive back empty-handed I will not be purchasing from them, nor recommending anyone else to purchase from this place. This policy thats in place is for the benefit of this business and not for the benefit of the customer. I do not recommend buying here. More
