My son needed a car on short notice to drive to Florida for college as his old car was not going to make it. Roger showed us a great car that fit my son perfectly and was able to sell it to us at a very fair price. He made everything easy. He also had a great attention to detail and made sure that my son understood everything about the car on subsequent visits while the paperwork was put through. He then had the car completely detailed when my son and I picked it up. Unlike the dreaded experience I was expecting in shopping for a used car, this was one of the easiest and best experience I have ever had in purchaing a car, new or used. Roger Pinsonnault and his associate Brendan Jones, who always had a smile on his face, made the purchase of the car a geat experience for both my son and I. Barry's prices were always competitive, add to that thery were close by, as well as knowing I have always been treated right in the service department. A job well done. There was a dispute over the financing since it involved USAA but overall we did come to an agreement by contract. Hopefully, this is not a sign of future problems. I am confident that Barry Nissan will meet my needs without any hassles. Steve and Chris also were amenable to my financial needs and worked with USAA to ensure that my price was met. More
This dealership is starting to get a reputation for taking your car, letting you do an "extended test drive" to put pressure to buy. They took advantage of my elderly parents this way telling them to drive the car for a couple days and then trying to force them into purchasing it by making them feel the deal was already done. Then they played games with the numbers on paper. Giving them almost 10,000 dollars for a trade worth 2,000 and then putting money into extended warranties, service fees, etc. If you do (for whatever reason) buy from them, either pay cash or have the check in hand, unless you are up for a few rounds of the nut in the shell game. I am a systems programmer, and I was confused after about two minutes, and I have purchased five other new cars before and I have never witnessed accounting like this. WATCH WHAT YOU ARE SIGNING. The financing was done by me, and with my 850-something credit rating, at the last minute they wanted me to sign up for a 12.99% finance rate complete with a $3,000 add-on 3/36000 powertrain only warranty that basically mirrored the full 3/36000 bumper to bumper warranty the car already came with. They also like to let you sit around a lot during the sales transaction to wait for: (insert one) them waiting on another customer / while they ask their manager how much they can sell the car for / make copies of all your personal information so they can hound you for the next several weeks about buying the car etc. Then the nearly bald tires the car came with that they promised to replace were not replaced (they were willing to pass inspection on it, but nobody else was) so it was a hassle getting them to replace the tires, then other things they were supposed to do after the sale they didn't do.. Just an overall hassle. This place has quite a reputation with the locals which I assume is why they advertise so much off the island. I wouldn't buy from them again. More
