Recently purchased a used vehicle at Capitol Subaru. Less than two weeks of ownership, I noticed a coolant leak from the radiator. I took the car to another dealership service and also found that ther Less than two weeks of ownership, I noticed a coolant leak from the radiator. I took the car to another dealership service and also found that there were oil leak. The Cam plate, valve cover and oiler cooler needed replaced, totaling over $3K of repairs. I understand there are risks involved with purchasing used vehicles, but when you buy from a dealership they "supposedly" perform inspections before sale. I have a hard time believing none of these issues wouldn't have presented itself during an inspection. Oh, and they sold the vehicle with an open safety recall. Just goes to show the integrity they put into their used car sales program. Would not recommend buying from them. I asked them if they would be able to help out with the repairs, and they said unfortunately it is sold "as is" with no guarantee. More

Ray and his team were great. The car was serviced for 60,000 miles and feels like new again. Spotlessly cleaned, serviced on time, a repeat customer for sure. 60,000 miles and feels like new again. Spotlessly cleaned, serviced on time, a repeat customer for sure. More
I went in to test drive and look at new Outbacks and Foresters, trying to settle on which one I felt better with. I test drove both and ended up liking the Forester better and wanted to reserve a Forest Foresters, trying to settle on which one I felt better with. I test drove both and ended up liking the Forester better and wanted to reserve a Forester Sport that is still in transit. They took down my information and told me they would call me when it was in. They called me and told me they had access to a used Sport if I wanted to come down to test drive it, so I did. I get that their job is to sell cars, but I told them I was not interested in buying a car that day, and more specifically I was not interested in buying the used vehicle I was able to test drive. I had to repeatedly tell three people that I was not interested in buying a car today, and the last salesman I spoke to came up to me and presented me with a bunch of different pricing options (all of which were incredibly overpriced, even with the chip shortage). After I told him, again, that I wasn't interested in buying a car today, he said "I'm sorry, we were under the impression you were going to buy a car today. Since you aren't, we are going to have to refund the deposit you put down." I don't know how they came to that conclusion, but fine by me, I don't want to spend my money at a dealership that doesn't listen to its customers. When I inquired again about the status of my refund, I was repeatedly ignored until I called in, where they told me I wasn't in their system. So they took down all of my information, told me they reserved it, and never did. I haven't seen anything on my CC statement, so luckily I'm not out a deposit, but I don't know what they have done with my personal information (I was told I was going to receive a video of them shredding it, but I never received that either). I would be giving them a 1-star rating if it weren't for Christian Bone. He seemed to be the only one there that actually cared about what I wanted and was looking for, was friendlier than anyone else I spoke with in there, and answered all of my questions as honestly and as straightforward as he could. The others lied to me, ignored what I had to say, dodged questions, tried to scam me, and get me to overpay on a car that I did not want. More

I can’t speak to those of you looking for a new or slightly used vehicle. But for those of you looking for a more inexpensive used option I would recommend going somewhere else. Our experience here wa slightly used vehicle. But for those of you looking for a more inexpensive used option I would recommend going somewhere else. Our experience here was extremely mixed. Everyone we interacted with at Capitol Subaru was very friendly and eager to help. No complaints on that front. We did not have a bad car buying experience, however at the end of the day we were sold a lemon that we were unable to return and we are now stuck with a car that has a major oil problem that will cost over a third of the car’s value to repair. Although Capitol Subaru talks about 100% customer satisfaction 100% of the time, in my experience they did not deliver on this promise. My major complaints are: 1. Our sales person was very pushy and pressury at times. 2. When we tried to trade in our old vehicle Capitol Subaru gave us a quote that was half the KBB trade in price and ⅓ what we were able to sell it for in a private sale. They made up a lot of reasons for this that were simply false. 3. We were sold a warranty that was expensive and virtually useless. It did not end up covering the issues we were told it would cover. 4. Our sales person was either not transparent or not aware of the true condition of the vehicle we purchased as well as the limits of the warranty. 5. They employed very obvious sales techniques of “talking to their manager” or “seeing what they could do” to avoid being straightforward and direct with us. They would often over promise and under deliver and blame it on someone/something outside of their control. 6. When we had an issue the general manager avoided my calls and would not reply to my emails. Please learn from my mistakes! Here are my recommendations: 1. Don't get a Subaru between the years of 2011-15 as they have major oil consumption problems. 2. Use the three day window they give you to do a thorough check at a third party shop. Have them run an oil consumption test or a compression check as oil consumption is a major known Subaru problem. 3. Take your time and don’t get pressured by the sales staff 4. Read the warranty carefully. You can often refund the warranty within 60 days so that’s cool but read the fine print and know that they are going to try very hard to weasel out of paying for things. In summary: The staff are very friendly and sometimes helpful. There is an appearance here of 100% customer satisfaction but this felt hollow because we were given a lot of promises and kind words but a terrible product at the end of the day. So if you’re looking for a lower priced Subaru that is over 60k mi. (aka no longer under the Subaru coverage) I would recommend going somewhere else. This is not the place to buy a well used car in my experience. More
