Financial Smoke and Mirrors at VW Camelback I'll start off that I had a nice salesman; he was young and new to the auto sales biz. The financial practices at VW Camelback are deceiving and quest I'll start off that I had a nice salesman; he was young and new to the auto sales biz. The financial practices at VW Camelback are deceiving and questionable. VW Camelback claims that they are a 'volume-driven dealership' and that they are not trying to optimize their financial margins, but this does not appear to be true based on several issues that I experienced with this dealership. The pay off of the loan of my trade-in vehicle did not occur in a timely manner and resulted in my making an extra payment on a vehicle that I no longer owned in addition to a pay-off figure that was less than what was owed on the vehicle. I checked the VW Camelback website for what they were offering for leases on their cars the next day and identified that they were offering a monthly lease payment that was > $90 less than what I was offered, even with the trade in of a 2017 vehicle (which they also made a profit on). I called the dealership to try and understand this offer in comparison to what I was paying and the sales manager stated that it does not include fees, taxes, and all the fluff that it is added to the car at the dealership to increase the price point. By the way, it is not an option to not have these items included with the car. In general, very deceiving marketing and sales practices - there is no possible way you can get anywhere near the offered lease - always add on at least $100 to any offer you see marketed from this dealership. It does not share these extra costs in the fine print that I could see. The registration process was also challenging and was not completed in a timely manner - my paper tag expired before I received the new tag; I did receive it the next day though. I really wish they would not cut it so close on the registration process. I do not feel comfortable working with this dealership anymore based on the financial 'smoke and mirrors' at VW Camelback. I can appreciate that the dealership needs to make a profit to pay the bills, labor, and reinvest in the company - I just want honest financial figures presented to me that don't result in unexpected costs and the financial and registration transactions to occur in a timely manner so I don't feel like I am being deceived or tricked. Happy with my third Subaru lease! Gabe was friendly and knowledgeable about the Outback I leased. The price was negotiated with a sales manager who's name I can't recall. There was a slight hiccup with Finance about the Lease Loyalty Program (my third Subaru lease) but Tu was able to resolve the problem to my satisfaction. Shannon was also helpful in that regard. Overall very happy with my experience at this dealer. More
