My wife and just recently retired and wanted to replace our aging 98 Ford Ranger with a newer truck. We had already decided that we wanted a new Tacoma TRD Sport with certain optional accessories so we sta our aging 98 Ford Ranger with a newer truck. We had already decided that we wanted a new Tacoma TRD Sport with certain optional accessories so we started with our local (closest) dealer but felt uncomfortable with the sales staff's lack of knowledge of the product, lack of follow-up and unbending position on pricing. We live in WV just south of Cumberland, so we narrowed our search to 5 Toyota dealers within a 1 1/2 hour drive. We visited one dealer and made phone or internet inquiries to the others. Almost immediately, we received a phone call from David Boone at Apple Valley and within a few minutes he offered us (without haggling) the best price among all of the inquiries. I kept a small spreadsheet on each dealers best price, extra fees, etc, and all based on the identically equipped truck. He was able to quickly answer all of our questions and on several follow up calls he either answered the phone right away or quickly returned our call. About a week later we took a drive down to Apple Valley to meet with David. He was very knowledgeable, well organized, and friendly. He gave us several options as to getting the exact options, accessories, etc at the best price. We choose to wait for the vehicle (equipped as we wanted) to come in from the factory with zero miles as opposed to having one brought from another dealership and having the accessories added, which gave us plenty of time to sell our older truck and also saved us a little money in the process. During the waiting period we received a call from the "finance guy" Rob Grissinger offering us (but not pressuring) a better rate on financing than even our local credit union was able to offer and their rates are about as good as they get. Since we chose to only finance a portion of the cost of the truck, he offered an additional .25% savings. David kept us informed as to the expected date of delivery and even called on his day off to let us know that it had arrived late on the previous business day. The day of delivery was a pure delight and was the most pleasant experience I have ever had at a car dealership. They were ready for us, the paperwork portion when smoothly and quickly, and the vehicle was ready to go. The entire staff was very friendly, everyone we met seemed genuinely glad that we were there. the atmosphere and accommodations at the dealership (good fresh coffee, large clean restrooms, etc.) were outstanding. David Boone even took the time to introduce us to the service dept staff so we would be able to put faces with names when we called down for routine services. I did not rate the service even though the service dept looked top notch with a very streamlined out of the weather process for bringing a vehicle in for service, well equipped service bays, etc - we have just not used it yet. In summary I would not hesitate to recommend the Apple Valley dealership and in particular, David Boone, to anyone interested in a new vehicle among the makes sold there. This has been a long review, but I am not easily impressed, especially by car dealers - and I was certainly impressed and wanted to give a detailed review of the entire experience. More
