Misunderstanding of Leasing Process I leased a new Elantra from this dealership 3 years ago for my college daughter. I was happy with the terms, and continued to take that vehicle and my I leased a new Elantra from this dealership 3 years ago for my college daughter. I was happy with the terms, and continued to take that vehicle and my other Hyundai there for service. This past February when I was servicing my SUV I inquired about purchasing the Elantra since the lease was almost up. My original salesperson met with me along with another salesman, who informed me that I needed to bring the vehicle in to the dealership for inspection, and proceeded give me a print out of the charges. I asked if they absolutely needed to see the car since I was buying it anyway and my daughter had it at school 3 hours away. They insisted and I told them I'd have to make arrangements for that and left. When I got home I called my credit union to check on loans, and I told then about the need to take the car to the dealership. She thought that sounded odd and suggested I call the leasing company. Long story short, I found out not only was another trip to the dealership unnecessary, but that I could pay the finance company directly and pay no fee (dealership wanted to charge me $499 processing fee). They lied to me outright and after giving them business for 3 years I will never patronize that dealership again. UPDATE: I spoke to the Sales Manager today who apologized and explained that the gentlemen I worked with were not aware that the vehicle did not need to be returned to the dealership. They now know the options and can provide better information in the future. More
