I always appreciate the "if it were me and my car" input. Unfortunately, the snotty young lady working the cashier desk ruined the customer service and friendliness ruined the experience. More

As with another reviewer of the dealership, I took my Mazda6 SW to Byers for a routine recall on a fan controller module. Service went well, took about an hour. Waiting room was well equipped and clean. Mazda6 SW to Byers for a routine recall on a fan controller module. Service went well, took about an hour. Waiting room was well equipped and clean. Got the keys to my car, no charge (obviously) and received a copy of their inspection report... You know, tires, brakes, battery etc. Drove the car away and was happy. Several hours later, the car would not start. Dead battery.... But hold on... Wasn't it checked just four hours previous by the Mazda dealer who said it was at 90%+? Had the car inspected before it went back on a tow truck and the guy said it looked like the alternator had not been connected.... (Perhaps because they disconnected it to do the recall?) Anyway, towed it back to dealership and left it there (Was Saturday afternoon) so I had to wait until Monday. Called them up and they said it was a dead battery.... DUH!!!! Well, they replaced the battery AT MY COST and took three days to do it... Subsequent trip for same car (Forced to, had a misfire) showed them diagnose the misfire as "Bad Gas"... Same problem two weeks later after I had changed my gas supply to their recommended brand. Took car back to them for a booked appointment on Monday... On Tuesday was informed problem was spark plugs... Okay, car had 75,000 miles on it, was probably due... Quoted $200.... FOR PARTS!!!! Said OK, they can have the car until Friday as they wanted to do further testing on it... They said OK... So when I go on Friday evening to pick car up, as I needed it for the weekend... Was told: "You are a priority for Monday morning" Priority for Monday morning??? Wasn't I a priority when I made an appointment on the Monday previous? Got my car back the Tuesday following, after the had finally diagnosed the problem successfully as an ignition coil.... How can a certified Mazda service center incorrectly diagnose a problem twice.... Even though I now live just four miles from Byers Mazda, I will NEVER take my car there, not even for an oil change. And if you do go there, check the pricing for service elsewhere... Quoted $450 + tax for a wheelbearing on a Mazda6 SW... Got the car serviced at another Mazda dealer (Park Mazda Wooster) for less than $200.... Tax included.... More
If I could give this service department a negative -10, I would. Worst, worst service ever. I took in my 2003 Mazda protege knowing already beforehand what was wrong with it, this car had been recalled for t would. Worst, worst service ever. I took in my 2003 Mazda protege knowing already beforehand what was wrong with it, this car had been recalled for the same exact problem, but mine VIN number wan't one of them. So I drop it off at 8am and then finally it is done by 6pm, now I am billed $500, with half of it from labor costs. Before I paid them, I double checked with the service rep, to make sure my problem was fixed and that they had checked my car overall for any other problems. Well, good thing I took the side roads home, because the next day as I pulled out of my carport, I hear a big bang noise. I get out and find a piece of metal/screw thing that fell from the bottom of my car!!!! Really??? Of course, when I took it back in, their explanation was that it was an honest mistake, that the technician was checking something and had left it in and that of course they couldn't refund any of the labor cost they had charged me. But they could offer me a 10% discount of up to $100 for any future services. Right, like I would come back. Not only were they careless, they also put my life and others in danger, what if I had been on the highway and it had fell out and struck another car. Just think it about it in another scenario, what if you had gone into surgery and the doctor left a operating tool in you, and then explained as a honest mistake and then offered a discount on any further surgeries. I am taking my compliant to Mazda USA, because this was ridiculous. I was charged 90 per hour for labor, and even though the car was there the whole day, it was obvious the job was rushed and sloppy. Frank is great to work with once I get to the dealership for my appointment and service seems to be always within the time promised ....the problem with this dealership in particular is that no one retur for my appointment and service seems to be always within the time promised ....the problem with this dealership in particular is that no one returns a call (even after waiting a couple of days) when a message is left attempting to set up a service appointment. These are not isolated incidents -- it seems to happen anytime I leave a message for a service appointment so I no longer will leave a message and call back until I can talk with a person....that might work very well for you that I am willing to spend my time to call again and again however it is a waste of my time.
