Last year I accompanied a friend to Santa Paula Chevrolet to purchase a truck for himself. The salesman was a really cool guy named Izzy and we had a few laughs that day. In fact it was such a good experience that I bought a truck too. That sounds like some BS but its true…if it wasn’t for Izzy, I would still be driving my old car. A few weeks ago my 19-year old son decided it was time to buy his first new car. He was out test driving all the Japanese sports cars and the GTI. Izzy called me last week with a routine follow-up to make sure his dealership was still taking good care of me. I told him the cars my son was test driving and he suggested a 2013 Camaro. The test drive was all it took to cement the decision to go Chevy. The deal was as smooth as glass and a great shopping experience for my son. He probably thinks they all go this well but those of us who have been around for some years know that’s not always the case. The truth is at Santa Paula Chevrolet you don’t really need to bring your negotiation hat. You could just bring a magazine or a lawn chair. These people will take great care of you and you will get a better deal than if you tried to negotiate one yourself. Best used car buying experience of all time! Like many others car buying has always been by far my least favorite pastime. When I first met Izzy, I was nervous! I thought for certain that he would try and sell me something I could not afford. I think it is fair to say that most everyone assumes that car salesman poses some type of Jedi mind control. This mind control inhibits people to buy a vehicle way out of their financial parameters that usually results in repossession two years down the line. What I found was quite the opposite. I explained what my financial guidelines and limitations were and Izzy never strayed from them. In fact, I ended up purchasing the very vehicle I wanted and at a much lower cost than I had anticipated. Izzy seemed honest, trustworthy and genuine characteristics that have slowly begun to erode in our culture. This was the most pleasant purchasing experience we have ever had. We chose our vehicle on-line and drove 120 miles to the dealership to take it for a test drive.
