So sorry to hear that your battery failed on your 2017 Jetta. The majority of car manufacturers (not just VW) only put a 36 month or 36k mile warranty on batteries that come new with the vehicle. The replacement batteries do come with a 60 month total warranty; which breaks down to the first 36 months warranty at 100% parts and labor coverage, and then the final 2 years they do prorate the coverage percentage based on the total months it has been installed. I hope this helps answer your questions.
