Cash Grab As Bill Durkota, President of Brubaker Motors explained to me, the $389 "Documentary Fee" on my bill of sale is the MOST the State of Pennsylvania wil As Bill Durkota, President of Brubaker Motors explained to me, the $389 "Documentary Fee" on my bill of sale is the MOST the State of Pennsylvania will allow dealerships to charge for administering titles. Also according to Bill, I am not entitled to that money back when his staff decides to ship me a signed title to do my own title work. Bill defended the $389 fee by citing services like notarization of the bill of sale, (Bill is the notary), and shipping my title via UPS (maybe a $20 value?). I asked Bill to refund half of the fee , since I am now effectively doing the title work. As the conversation progressed, Bill agreed I was entitled $50, then $90, then $100, of that fee refunded (he had to call me back to get to that last number). I declined his offer, and thanked Bill for his return phone call. This disagreement seems entirely dishonest (and petty), especially since Bill and I can agree that some amount of the fee should be refunded. Given several opportunities during our conversation, Bill could not sufficiently justify a $389 fee with the minimal services provided. To resolve my concern, I ask Bill Durkota/Brubaker to refund half of the $389 Notarization fee ($194.50), to refund the value of titling the vehicle. More
