Last week I was in the process of trying to buy a car for my son for his 16th birthday, January 20th. I was SO EXCITED because I found the perfect car a 2008 Volkswagon Jetta....I was even more excited when I previewed the information on-line and realized the dealership was Bommarito. We purchased our new 2010 Honda CRV from Bommarito Honda. We have had exceptional service for our Honda. I went to look at the 08 Jetta the Tuesday after our big snow storm with my husband. We loved it and were prepared to make the deal. The problem was we were going to trade in our 2000 Lexus ES but I didn't drive it to the dealership that day. It was parked in front of our house and was snowed in by the snowplows. We worked out a deal with our salesman--- all but how much the dealership would give us for the trade in since the car wasn't with us. I made arrangements to bring the car in the next day at 11 a.m. I left the dealership that afternoon at 5 p.m. (I felt like we would be able to shovel the car out by the next day.) The next morning I was getting ready to leave to drive the Lexus to Bommarito when at 10 a.m. I got a call from our salesman Marc Gaby to tell me he had "bad news" for us. Another salesman sold the car that morning. He said the man had looked at the car on Saturday and came back today with cash in hand (he said they did not know he was coming back to buy the car). I AM SO UPSET. Marc knew we were planning on buying that car. In fact we offered to close the deal that afternoon and take less for our Lexus car(site unseen). We also wanted to put a down payment on the car before we left but Marc said he couldn't hold a car. I have never (along with some other car salesmen that I have been talking to) have EVER heard of a dealership that would turn down someone's offer of a down payment. Marc mentioned he thought it would be in our favor if we waited till the next day to bring in the car. He felt like we may be able to get more for the trade in if they could see the vehicle first. Well that made sense to me..so we decided to wait. I know it has always been Mr. Bommarito's mission that all his dealership are fair and work hard to insure customer satisfaction. Bommarito volkswagon literally sold that car out from under us...with nothing but a "sorry to have to make this call" Marc said "this happens now and then...and my response was 'This should NEVER happen in a quality customer oriented dealership. All Marc said was I am sorry..I finally said well shouldn't you be saying I will find you another car." He then agreed he would try...called me back a couple of hours later offering me a car that was $4000 more than we wanted to spend. He did call me back several days later with the offer of a used Honda. I thought that I might go look at it but in the end, I just could not allow myself to purchase a car from Bommarito Volkswagon after how I was treated. More
This only was the second time to buy a new car for me. And in the process of collecting quotes from various Volkswagen dealerships I felt that not much had changed at that dealership. However, my recent experience working with Jay Burroughs at Bommarito Volkswagen in Hazelwood was clearly a more positive experience. I still felt that the sales stuff was either trying to pull a few tricks on me, or the alternative, more benign explanation would be that communication among stuff was not perfect. E.g. I was given a very tempting price range for my trade in via email that was not matched after inspection, even though I had described my trade in well, and even though I had reconfirmed the trade in offer by phone making certain that the issues on my trade in were recognized in the trade in offer price. Another hold up was that after a sales contract had been signed it turned out that the color I wanted was not available even though I was promised this color during the signing process. This was resolved later, but it feels a little as if the sales stuff tried to sell me a car that was more easily accessible to them, or that was more difficult to sell. In the end however I feel that I got all I wanted after a little bit of insistence that was necessary. After receiving the car the staff explained a post sales service package that sounds very nice. If it is matched as described it may turn out to be a nice deal. More

We were very pleased with our experience at Bommarito VW of Hazelwood. We worked with Jay Burroughs on our VW purchase. Jay made our car purchase enjoyable, he wanted to sell us what we wanted not what they of Hazelwood. We worked with Jay Burroughs on our VW purchase. Marc, Joe and Geoff were awesome! They got me into the car I wanted with a price that I was most comfortable with. Mark Reader in service was fabulous. I drove from Rochester, MN to Saint Louis and back in the same day. Traded in my car on a new Volkswagen. Worked with Jay Burroughs on the transaction. I had a 10 y/o car with a lot of miles on it. As we were heading into the worst of the winter season I knew now was the time to trade and get a newer used car. As a single female, car buying is a pain in the ***. Even with a law degree, and clearly middle age, I almost always get the run around. I had done my research and started looking a week ago. The first place I went had a "come on" ad campaign, offering $1000 over Kelly Blue Book for every trade. They offered me $750, which would imply Kelly priced my car at negative $250. The sales kid and manager tagged team good cop bad cop trying to get me to agree to their offer. I was polite but left vowing never to return. At the second place I went the sales guy was so distracted he coudn't remember my name and kept trying to get me to buy new, explaining that my safety was very important to him. Really? So by the time I rolled into Bommarito VW of Hazelwood in the pouring rain I was ready and armed for the BS I knew was coming my way. The funny thing was it never came. From the time I drove in until I left with my new (to me) used VW, I was treated with respect and directness. Marc Gaby was waiting out front with an umbrella, standing next to the car I was interested in seeing. I explained what I wanted, that if that wasn't do-able to let me know so I wouldn't waste my or their time. Marc discussed the features of the car they were selling and the price they were asking. Based on my research it was very reasonable.The service guy intoduced himself (I'm blanking on his name, but he couldn't have been nicer) and offered me almost double the amount the first guy offered for my car. Nobody tried to talk about sports, no extra fees were tacked on. The rest was easy. The Biz manger was smart , efficient and patient with me. Frankly, the entire experience was so good I'm still waiting for someone tyo jump up and yell "psych". I would recomend this team to anyone I cared about. More
Marc Gaby was recommended to me by a business acquaintance. Marc was friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating and professional.
