I Had a terrible experience with a salesman at Bommarito Honda. I stopped in one afternoon while I was in the area to look at a car that they had listed on the internet. The salesman was helpful at first, but clearly became agitated when I told him that I was just starting to look at cars. He became even more frustrated when he apparently realized that I might know more about the cars that I was looking at than he did. I left that afternoon, but continued to correspond with the salesman over email since I live about 50 minutes away from this dealer (without traffic). I wrote the dealer to find out whether or not they would negotiate the price. He replied: "The cheapest TL on Autotrader I could find was $22,000,with all comparable options. If you have some time stop in and I will submit your offer to my boss. Also the tag price was 19,999. Thats why I e-mailed you as soon as he lowered it to $18,995. Please let me know when you would like to come in.Have a great day. Aaron 314-852-3743." The following Wednesday, my wife and I got a babysitter and drove in after work to make an offer on the car like he suggested, with full intention to buy the vehicle that night. The salesman got up, started the paperwork, and simply asked how I wanted to pay. He never even bothered to ask what my offer for the price was, and told me then that the price was not negotiable. He would not entertain an offer or let me talk to the sales manager. I didn't appreciate the fact that he wasted over 2 hours of my night or his insultingly smug attitude. Im not sure if he was a new salesman or just the stereotypical one- but you cant ask someone to come in and make an offer and then expect them to pay the ask price without question. That isn't how a negotiation works. There are lots of dealers with lots of cars in St. Louis- i will take my money elsewhere. More
Purchasing my used vehicle from Bommarito Honda (who figured I'd buy a Ford from a Honda dealership?) was as easy as going to the store to buy a gallon of milk. I learned of the vehicle through an Internet search, called and made an appointment with Mr. Weiman, test drove the vehicle in the middle of a rainstorm, and purchased it on the spot. Mr. Weiman and all of the staff were welcoming and professional. They answered all of my questions. When there was a paperwork snafu they mailed the corrected paperwork to my home for my review and signature and I sent it right back to them. All of the corrected paperwork was provided to me and I had zero problems licensing my vehicle. I returned to the dealership for a paint touchup that was promised to me at the time of purchase and was very satisfied with that, as well. I didn't even have to sign for it. Instead, their word was their bond. I highly recommend this dealer! More
Went to Bommarito to purchase a used car for my teens. We found a car and agreed on a price. After all papers were signed and was money paid in full, we picked up our 2004 Accord. Keys for 2004 Hondas cost over $100 each after programming. Only the dealer can program these keys and they will not start the car without programming. We protested, noting that cars are expected to come with certain items, including a normal number of keys (3), and that this should have been declared before the deal was closed. They refused to help but stated that they could see about programming if we got keys. With some difficulty, we did purchase 2 Honda-issued key blanks. When we called to get them programmed, Dan said, "Hey, it's not my problem." This was especially troublesome, because before buying Dan had given us a speech about how some dealers would refuse to help a customer over a bad battery or a bad tire on a used car. "Bommarito would never do that," he said with assurance. Service also refused to intervene until we continued to protest to multiple people. Finally, the manager agreed to program the keys. At this point, the service people were very helpful, polite, and attentive. Thus, the rating...the service people seemed very nice; the salesman was not. The stated price was not what the car cost. Dan Weiman, unfortunately, acted like the stereotype of dishonest car salesmen. How unfortunate for all the honest car salespeople out there. Having purchased 6 used cars, this was the worst experience I have had. For the price of 2 keys, Bommarito could have had my return business. I am afraid that I have a permanent bad image of them now. More
Upon arriving at Bommarito Honda my wife and I wanted to just look at the new Honda Accords. An employee approached us and asked if she could be of assistance. After that we looked, examined, and sat in cars with no bother from anyone. Tim Hickey stopped briefly to see if we needed any help. I said no, but maybe later. And later I did. It is nice to be able to look at the cars without a sales person looking over your shoulder, and equally nice for them to be available when you do want them. In other words, Bommarito Honda made us feel comfortable looking at the cars at our leisure. I found Tim later and told him what we were looking for in a Honda Accord. He located one on their huge lot and offered us the key to take it for a spin by ourselves. At that time we didn't drive it. But, Tim offering to let us drive it without him is reflective of what to expect of this dealership. The trust is a two-way street. We talked at length with Tim about the Accords and settled on a new '09 EX-L. After my wife and I took it out for a test drive we knew this was the car we wanted to take home. The price for the new and our trade-in arrived at an acceptable number in a reasonable amount of time. Tim's easy going/no pressure style and true professionalism is a real example for other car sales people to follow. Jason Galeski the finance manager did an excellent job with all of the final paperwork. Besides the car financing, he presented all of the optional warranties available and let us decide what, if any, we wanted. Bommarito Honda is a beautiful facility and the entire staff is friendly. This dealership offers many added amenities that others do not. This is our fifth new Honda Accord, our first one from Bommarito, and of course we like it the best. Honda's superb quality is second to none! We will be happy to recommend Bommarito Honda and Tim Hickey to friends and family. They exemplify what a car dealership/buying experience should be. I came in looking for a new car. Steve walked right up to me and immediately introduced himself. He asked me what my hobbies included, if I had children, if it would be for work use, or if I had a long commu me and immediately introduced himself. I told him exactly what I was looking for and the price range & he found me a few cars that fit my "stye". He was BY FAR the nicest car salesman I have EVER encountered, very professional and personable! After visiting several other Honda dealers and two Toyota dealers I have the means to compare Bommarito to others in the area. No comparison! There was no pressure, no feeling that I was being taken advantage of and, at the end, no feeling that I'd made a mistake in my choice of car or dealer. Tim gave me the opportunity to drive the car on my own (many of the others sat in the back seat and gave a running commentary on how great the car was) and was there later to answer any questions I had. When I came back the next day with a friend who also bought a car (she had been impressed with Bommarito and Tim and decided to not wait a year for a new car), I noticed what a friendly atmosphere the entire dealership had. Several employees introduced themselves, made sure I had something to drink, a comfortable place to wait, etc. I would definitely recommend Bommarito Honda and Tim Hickey to anyone I know in the market for a car.
