I have a service appointment this Tuesday so I got online to look for a coupon. When I did, I came across these reviews and felt that I had to write about my experience. I bought a 2006 330i last July from D to look for a coupon. When I did, I came across these reviews and felt that I had to write about my experience. I bought a 2006 330i last July from Don, not only was he responsive but he suggested this car for me by listening to me and how I like to drive. Since then I have used the service department a couple of times but more important, I've had questions about servicing my car. Without hesitation Nick responds to my questions with very detailed and lengthly explanations, I'm very grateful for the information and customer service, he certainly could just tell me to make an appointment. I have also been looking for another used car, again any time that I contact Don about cars in their inventory he responds quickly with as much detail as I want about the vehicle. I live 30 minutes or so away from the dealership and I go there because I respect and appreciate their customer service and knowledge. More
I was interested in a CPO (Certified) BMW X5 and came in contact with Bobby Rahal BMW. I am travelling to Ohio from out of state so my wife and I made specific plans to deviate from our trip to visit the de contact with Bobby Rahal BMW. I am travelling to Ohio from out of state so my wife and I made specific plans to deviate from our trip to visit the dealer and get the car in a week's time. I talked to one of their sales people named Adam Muszalski, asked specific questions, to which I only received answers to half of them, and when it came to replying to my emails, said person took 2 days or more to get back to me each time. I'm sure traditional mail would arrive faster than Bobby Rahal BMW's email responses. I asked to leave a deposit; I was declined. I asked to complete the financing procedure; he never emailed me how to do it, even though he said he would on the phone. My wife found the financing application on Bobby Rahal's website by herself and completed it – unsurprisingly, no one ever answered back. We should have know better, but what can you do, she liked the car. After never receiving a response to my last email on Thursday, I send Adam another email (adding a CC this time to General Sales Manager Paul Rahal) on Saturday. Adam replies that he was out of office on Thursday and informs me that the car has been sold. I try calling Paul Rahal on his direct line, he doesn't pick up – see a pattern here? Since that didn't work, I decide to call through their service line and ask to be connected to Paul Rahal - he answers (I probably should have popped a champagne bottle at that point, but I wasn't really in the mood…). I explain what happened and that we wanted to get the car, but said sales person never followed up. Apparently, Paul Rahal couldn't care much either as all I received was an "oh, sorry, it shouldn't have happened". He didn’t even bother asking me if I wanted another vehicle! Perhaps I was mistaken and Bobby Rahal BMW is not in the business of selling cars... If so, BMW USA should take a look at their contract and relieve them from this burden because the way they perform business affects them as well. Seriously, I have received better customer service from individually-run eBay shops for a $5 backscratcher. Three other BMW dealers I contacted to inquire about their cars not only responded immediately, but also constantly followed up to see if I needed anything and – wait for it - this will surely come to a surprise to the people running Bobby Rahal BMW – one dealer even asked me to complete an online survey to see if I was pleased with their service, despite the fact that I didn't buy from them! Imagine that… More
We have had several bad experiences with the service department and parts department at this dealership over the past few years. There are better dealerships. department and parts department at this dealership over the past few years. There are better dealerships. More
I was interested in a convertible, the salesmen was soo pushy even thought the car did not have the options I wanted. What was amazing was that I told him that I have owned 5 bmws and was a bmwcca member a pushy even thought the car did not have the options I wanted. What was amazing was that I told him that I have owned 5 bmws and was a bmwcca member and was very aware of the market price. The asking price for they car they were selling was $37000 but the trade in value was $27000. Every other bmw dealer in a 200 mile radius was asking $34K and willing to sell it for 32K the car was black which is a common color with beige interior so there was nothing special about the car. What really irritated me was that the sales person and manager both said that they were only making $280 profit on this car. Ok so then why did they offer me 18K on my car that had a Kelly Blue book trade in value of 24K. I respectfully walked out... More
Don't waste your time. This place has such high overhead, how do you think they pay for it? By charging every single customer more than needed to cover the cost of the vehicle. You can save yours overhead, how do you think they pay for it? By charging every single customer more than needed to cover the cost of the vehicle. You can save yourself thousands by shopping at a small independent dealer. Very annoying high-pressure tactics used. Stay away unless you have extra $$ burning a hole in your pockets. More
I went in to buy a X5 from this dealership. The staff was not friendly and very rude. They acted as if they did not care whether I bought a car from them or not. I still test drove a X5 there, and after talk not friendly and very rude. They acted as if they did not care whether I bought a car from them or not. I still test drove a X5 there, and after talking to my husband, we decided to drive further to another BMW dealership where we purchased the vehicle. I purchased a used 530i at the beginning of December. I had a flat tire and luckily was by a sears so I had them look at it. Upon inspection they found that all of the tires had severe uneven wear to the had a flat tire and luckily was by a sears so I had them look at it. Upon inspection they found that all of the tires had severe uneven wear to the point that it was unsafe. The car was sold to me with "like new" tires. Sure, if you look at the tread they look perfect. Looks like what they did is when they car came in for trade-in, they did an alignment and figured, ok the treads good, that's all we need to worry about. I sat for several hours as they kept looking at the car and coming up with new stories about how the tires were bad. At one point they said that my driving 4500 miles had killed them and how some tires only last a few months. Really? At the end, all they could do was offer me 15% off of a set of new tires. I said no thank you and went to a tire shop and bought them much cheaper. So far in the few months i've had the vehicle i've had to replace the windshield (replacement company found existing crack in corner, broke with temperature change), and battery. Unless you are buying a new vehicle, they do not care about you. They assume your an idiot that doesn't know anything about cars. They only want your money. More
I've had 11 BMWs, currently own 3 and love the cars. When I moved to the Pittsburgh Area, I found that, unlike Atlanta where I moved from, 3-rivers, now Bobby Rahal, is simply out to make as much money When I moved to the Pittsburgh Area, I found that, unlike Atlanta where I moved from, 3-rivers, now Bobby Rahal, is simply out to make as much money as possible. A lack of competition will do that. There are NO BMW certified mechanics in the Pittsburgh area other than the dealers. Nearly every experience I've had with Bobby Rahal has demonstrated a total lack of consideration for the financial aspects of owning a BMW. I will drive to Sewickley if I need anything major for my cars. New car sales: I have visited this dealer many times in search of a new BMW. They will not negotiate as they are one of only two BMW dealers in town and don't think anyone will travel to get a deal. I ended up driving to a dealer near Columbus to buy a new, identical 5 series for over $8k less than Rahal's best price. Used car sales: I Asked for a particular year and model of X5 and was told they don't have one (shown several newer, MUCH more expensive ones), only to find the exact car I was looking for listed on AutoTrader from Rahal. Returning to the dealer, I found that the car was still there, way in the back on the back lot. The salesman told me when I found the above car that it was going to Auction TODAY and I needed to decide if I was going to buy it immediately. I returned a week later and found that the car was still there. Maintenace services: 18 months ago, I went to Rahal for a set of tires. The service rep kept calling me telling me there were issues with the car that needed service right away. By the time I picked up my car, he had called with over $4,400 worth of "needed service" on my 2000 328i. I declined all of it except a front wheel alignment. The car had 175,000 miles on it at the time, had no engine lights, made no noises and my own engine diagnostics tool said it needed nothing. A few weeks later I took it to a BMW dealer in the DC area and they said it needed nothing immediately but gave me a list of minor items to consider (belts, fluids, etc). A month later I had it inspected and it passed with no problems. None of the issues Rahal outlined have been brought up by any dealer or mechanic, including Rahal, in the 18 months since I was there. Last week I took my old 5 series (182,500 mi) to Pep Boys to see if they could diagnose a clicking noise in the engine that I could not. (I was prepared to pay for diagnostics only if they could not find it or if it was troo big a job for them.) They correctly diagnosed a belt tensioner but said it would be a few days before they could get one. I called parts at Rahal to see if they had the part. Here's what they said: Has the system been updated yet? I said no. According to Rahal, the tensioner system in these cars has been updated. The new assembly involves 15 parts and costs about $350.00. The old part is no longer available. It takes about 2 hours (at $125-150 an hour) to do the job. That's $650 to replace a belt tensioner! I said thanks anyway, hung up the phone and rattled off the story to the service guy at Pep Boys. He looked at his computer and said for $90.00 he could have the OEM part I need to fix my car in a day. I agreed. Total bill at Pep Boys? $218.50. I have a lot of other stories about Rahal that are simply infuriating. They include: Having to wait nearly two months for an "appointment" to see a service technician. Being told that my old tires or parts have already been recycled when I pick up the car. In one case, they charged me $50.00 to clear a sunroof drain but were unable to clear it. The service consultant said the drain was pinched when I had the chipped windshield replaced. I went home, jammed a wire down the drain and some dirt and water dropped out of the drain under the car. They charged me $50.00 but never even tried to clear the drain. In another, they offered to check the alignment when I was getting new tires. I said OK. The service technician told me they were unable to make any adjustments because the adjustment bolts were frozen. they would have to replace the control arms. I said forget it. They still insisted on charging me for the alignment because they put the car on the rack. They would not release the car to me until I agreed to pay the $100 for the alignment. I took it to a dealer in DC, told them about the bolts and they adjusted the front end and said the bolts were fine. Constant hints from service about buying a newer car. ("You know, this car is going to be really unreliable with so many miles on it. You should look at one of our new ones", etc.) And every time I go in for a part in the new facility, even an oil filter, I have to wait about 20 minutes to get and pay for it. It is amazing to me that car dealers can be so blind to think that they have a captive market. I keep hoping that this dealer will improve and occasionally give them opportunities to redeem themselves. Too bad they have never taken any of them. If you are looking for a car, call around. You might save thousands getting one from another city. If you have to get your BMW serviced. Consider using "lesser" service centers for most work and only taking it to a dealer for the big stuff. Again, you could save thousands doing this. BMWs are terrific cars. Rahal is NOT a terrific dealer. More

I bought a CPO 2007 BMW 335i from Don Lindich at Bobby Rahal BMW a couple of weeks ago (very end of '09) and it was a pleasure to do business with him and everyone I encountered at the dealership. I li Rahal BMW a couple of weeks ago (very end of '09) and it was a pleasure to do business with him and everyone I encountered at the dealership. I live over 200 miles away but will certainly be back when I am again in the market for a car. The facility is gorgeous (opened in late 2008), the car was very clean and tight, and the price was unbeatable. More
