Service Department Needs to Not Give Up so easily The truck has the High Country Dessert package with the three-piece removable tonneau cover. The first time it snowed we actually had snow inside the The truck has the High Country Dessert package with the three-piece removable tonneau cover. The first time it snowed we actually had snow inside the bed. We asked the service center to address it. They actually called Chevy and had someone there tell them that the truck bed was never meant to be be water-resistant, water proof or watertight. We weren't asking for those things. We were asking that it not be so ill-fitted that snow accumulates in the bed. They deliberately chose to misunderstand in order to try and make us seem unreasonable. They also seemed to have a real problem that we bought the truck from Pat McGrath rather than Billion. Their attitude was that it was McGrath's problem not theirs. We had used Billion for years with our Avalanche and it truly never occurred to us that they would take that attitude toward our new truck. The truly scary part is that when we filed a complaint with Chevy directly they took the same attitude as the first Billion service person. We also had a ridiculous Chevy Senior Adviser say that we shouldn't expect a truck with the high country dessert package to be able to keep the water out since it was meant for the dessert - really. Of course, they don't have a recording of the call (imagine that) and choose to call us - the customer - a liar. If any of them had actually bothered to exercise their brains instead of giving up, they would have figured out that it is the tailgate assist that is the problem and not the cover itself. If you close the gate like you would a normal one, the truck bed stays as dry as the Avalanche I had previously. Water only got in it when I drove through heavy rain or several inches of snow melted quickly off the cover. My guess is that if they had worked with the tailgate assist they could have got it to meet that perfectly reasonable expectation. None of this miserable experience was necessary. My father is rolling over in his grave, but next time I am going to look at a Ford. More
