Great Car and Fine Salesman Makes Management Tolerable It's hard to be entirely positive about an experience that is always stressful for the consumer who is about to give away or commit to giving away tho It's hard to be entirely positive about an experience that is always stressful for the consumer who is about to give away or commit to giving away thousands of dollars, but the high point of shopping at Bill Jacobs VW was my salesman, Josh Stoll. If the man or woman up-front can help ease that stress, then loving your car can be that much easier. Josh was not a high-pressure salesman, has a great sense of humor, is quite personable and knowledgeable, and walked me through each step of my purchase with as much honesty as I suppose a car salesman is allowed to have. My rating really is about how much I love my car, enjoyed my test drive on the closed track (a big plus!), and got along with Josh. If the product is good, the stress can be temporary and ultimately forgotten. I did not like the bait of The Bill Jacobs Price advertised online, which it turns out requires one to be a first-responder, combat veteran, etc; I would rather know the Bill Jacobs Price and then be surprised/delighted with the further discounts if I was someone eligible. That price was not a starting price, and very little negotiation was allowed by my salesman's invisible superior (if I didn't want to haggle a bit, I could have gone to CarMax - though, honestly, I would not have found my car there), especially the VW Car Net package that I was told was non-negotiable and added several hundred dollars to the price, and that VW corporate is not interested in cash purchasers - money must be made via financing. I get it - it's the auto industry, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. Ultimately, though, I love my car, and if someone I knew was interested in a VW, I would likely tell them to check out BJVW's inventory and staff. More

What a nightmare it has been trying to get my refund for a car hold. I was told on Feb 15th by Matt Gottardo (guy that sold me the car) that a check will be mailed to me and to give it 3-5 days. Matt emailed me on Feb 25th asking me to give him a review and in response I said I will as soon as I get the check that I never received and he said to give it another 3-5 business days. I emailed him again yesterday (7 business day after) at around 5:16pm and I was told that their office is “gone for the day” and that he will “get with them tomorrow (today) at 9:15am” when he gets to the office. Mind you, when I was still shopping for cars they so readily told me that they’re open till 9pm in case I wanted to go back the same day to make my purchase! But ok, I’ll let that slide. I emailed Matt again and CC’d Chris Verhagen, the guy I originally spoke to on the phone when I was still shopping around, at 1:29pm today and got no response. I may have missed a call from them earlier today but no one’s left a voicemail so I can’t be sure. At any rate, here is my honest review, I can screenshot the emails and texts if anyone needs them. And I still want my refund. Thank you and have a great day! More
I normally do not post reviews that affect a business negatively. I have worked with most dealerships in the Naperville area and own about $350k worth cars so my review comes in good faith. Certain sales people within bill Jacobs dealership are pure evil. We finalized a deal in good faith for an employee (considering I have bought vehicles from them before a Passat and an atlas) and paid 1200 for insurance to purchase, set up a time to meet with them and when we went at the arranged time, the manager says sorry the car is sold. They wasted our time. The so called manager had an attitude telling us “you negotiated for too long”. I called his manager who promised to call me back the next day with something but no news from him. They cover for each other. No manager is worth the time there. My guess is the deal they made with me was not a big margin enough so they squeezed someone else of more money. The sales team forces you to purchase options like it’s part of the car. $300 of some security system apparently “cannot be removed” from the car even though we do not want it, but it’s added on the purchase order as options. Tread lightly with these guys. I am never going back to Bill Jacobs. More
