This review will be an account of my experience with interactions with Bettenhausen staff. This is in regards to my girlfriends experience and how I will tie in. To be fair, the Salesman was very ap interactions with Bettenhausen staff. This is in regards to my girlfriends experience and how I will tie in. To be fair, the Salesman was very apologetic and seemingly nice, and did admit he made a mistake. However, the lack of response from a GM presence being as apologetic or even attempting to right their wrongs is terrible. With that being said, my GF went into Bettenhausen on 5/21 to test drive a Jeep Renegade. Salesman was great to her, even drove her around to get all the details for the payoff amount and brought her to Carmax, since they were paying more, and he wanted her to get the most money for her trade-in. Paper work for a lease was executed. She put $$$ down (Awaiting the sale to Carmax which would take place the following week) , agreed upon a price per month and signed some documents and away she went. On Thursday, 5/26, she took her old leased car and sold it to Carmax and ensured her payments to Toyota were in full. Then Friday, 5/27, the salesman who set her up on the car, called her and told her he made a mistake and she would actually have to pay more money for the car per month or pay $4000 upfront to keep her payment. She of course was upset and confused. I was in the area, so I decided to stop by and just chat seeing as she was scheduled to work an overnight shift at the hospital. I went in to the front desk and asked to speak with him and told him I appreciated him taking the time to go over things. The salesman admitted he made a mistake. Said he put in the wrong residual vale of the car and the financing company caught it and said there was a short of over $6200. He blamed it on the 2021 residual value being different than the 2022s and because she was put in a 2022, it had to be adjusted. So, at that point he was able to talk to Chrysler and issue about 2200 in additional credits which is why she would just need to put down $4000. So in total, they wanted $7000 down(Initial downpayment PLUS the 4K), to get her at a $460/mo payment on a lease on this 2022. When I spoke to my dad (former car salesman) he mentioned he's seen this once and its almost looked at as an embarrassment to the dealership. She was upset and definitely didnt want to give them more money and didnt want to pay more per month so she returned the car and received her downpayment refunded. Who apologized? Just the salesman who dealt with her. Where was the GM? Who knows. Clearly they didnt care about the customer in this situation. Despite the salesman's mistake, couldn't a manager or someone have his back and try to sort this out? How many other times has this happened? So now, my girlfriend is using my car , while researching another dealership, and car. I use to hear great things about Bettenhausen and how they really cared about the customer beyond the sale, clearly that must've all went out the window. More
