This is the fouth vechile we bought from Bettenhausen Dodge and I'm sure there will be a fifth and a sixth! Everyone is friendly and courteous and everything is up front without any haggling. We found the truck we were interested in on the internet. When we called about it Mike was not high pressure like some we encountered and gave us good directions. He put a hold on the truck until we arrived since we had to drive 160 miles to get there. When we arrived Mike was very helpful, very low pressure, and made us feel right at home. He allowed us to try some other size of trucks to be sure we were getting exactly what we wanted. We ended up buying the truck we came to see. All the paperwork went very smoothly and they cleaned our truck and sent us on our way home. All in all it was a very good experience! John T. Harris More
Bought a brand new 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan and the engine light came on the very next day. The sales person tried to convince us that we stopped for gas and put the gas cap on wrong. It turned out to be a defect that needed to be fixed. This van has been nothing but a headache since day one. My wife had to sit in the waiting room of their Service Center several times with a newborn baby due to a van that was constantly having issues. Examples include replacement of the horn pad twice, front overhead interior light housing, catyletic convertor, serpintine belt twice, sliding door that would not open or lock, bad breaks and rotors, and a sqeaking / squealing noise that has haunted us for the past 2.5 years (and too much more to list). Took it in again a weekend ago and was told this squeaking / squealing noise was fixed, but drove around the corner and same problem was still here. Mechanics there are not reliable / effective and its been the same song and dance for a while with problems being stated as fixed to learn they are not. When we bought it, we traded in a used car with 80,000 miles on it. Wish we would have kept it as it was 100 times more reliable and problem free, unlike this piece of garbage. Just went to the Betternhausen dealership earlier in the day today (4/9/11) to explore trading in the van for a new one. Dealership expected us to pay $13,000 towards a new van. Owners did absolutely nothing other than treat us as any ordinary customer walking in to buy a new vehicle and trade one in. It was like all of the issues with the van, all of our time wasted over 2.5 years, and failure of their mechanics to put repetitive issues to rest did not matter to them. A sales manager was helping us, but was taking orders from the owners and general manager. We asked to speak to the owners in person, who were also present today (4/9/11), but they refused to walk over and talk to us! They did even have the descency to walk over and apologize! Betternhausen Dodge is very friendly and courteous and will gladly accept your money, but when it comes to truly defining what customer service is all about, perhaps they need to start with the basics and look up the meaning of the words in the dictionary. I guess all customers must be fools and should be expected to take $13,000 out their children's college savings (that won't happen!) since the Chrysler Corporation and Bettenhausen won't do the right thing! This is the 7th car I have purchased in my life and this was a very unique experience. The atmosphere was not high pressured, the ambiance was friendly, and it was overall the most pleasurable purchasing experience I have ever had. I worked with Tom Brennan. I think it is a disservice to call Tom a "Sales Manager" as his card says. In my business experience I have always differentiated a Sales Person from a Client Development/Relationship Managment person. It was quite obvious that working with Tom was more about the relationship than the sale, per se. I spoke to Tom twice by phone prior to my visit. Each phase was easy and efficient. Tom was knowledgaable, polite, and exemplified true customer service. Once I visited the sight, his goal was to get me what I wanted. The discussions were open, honest, and extremely fair and equitable. I have only one drawback. I live in Naperville and Bettenhausen is in Tinley Park, 30 miles way. I would prefer to continue working with them on future service issues, etc..., but the distance may preclude this. I can assure you though, that when I am ready for another car, they have already won my business. Customer service has often become a lost art form in this country. I've been to other dealerships and the people are not as welcoming as the people at Bettenhausen. Scott and Craig worked together to keep me within my budget, they didn't try to sell me something I didn't welcoming as the people at Bettenhausen. Let me start off by saying I am semi new to the southside and heard about Bettenhausen when it sponsored an event at Bourbon Street for AAW wrestling. Turns out Jacques is the main guy for AAW. I was not looking into getting a newer car like the 2009 Dodge Charger that we purchased, but Jacques mad it hard not to..Very nice guy with great intentions..He put us where we wanted to be for the monthly payments and he was so very helpful..I really do hope he gets the credit he deserves..Myself being in sales and customer service all my life knows it is very important to steer the customer in the right direction and Jacques hands down did that with my girlfriend and I. I also did appreciate that we were not hounded as soon as we got to the dealer like so many other dealers do..Made us feel comfortable right off the bat..I will always recommend Bettenhausen and Jacques Baron. My husband and I were looking to purchase a new vehicle and decided on a Jeep. We did lots of research into price, options, financing etc. but it was still a little foreign to us. We visited a Chrysler/Jeep dealer and the experience was awful, they kept coming back at us with different prices, options, financing, one deal more confusing than the next (and nothing we really wanted). We left the dealership unhappy, heads spinning and knowing we didn't want to deal with anything like that again. A co-worker suggested Bettenhausen, my husband and I were skeptical, but we sent an e-mail requesting a quote. The price was right, the vehicle had all the options we wanted but we still had a few questions, so I called and spoke to Bill Smith. He was able to answer all of my questions. We went to Bettenhausen the next day looked at the vehicle, signed all the papers and drove home in our new Jeep! It was painless, no haggling, no feeling of "did I get ripped off". Bill was so friendly and knowledgeable, I will recommend Bettenhausen and Bill Smith to friends, family & co-workers because it truly was a great experience. More
