Betten Baker Grandville diagnosed my problem and made an appointment for me to get service from Betten Baker Hudsonville. I was told it would take only an hour. When I got to the appointment I was told it would be 1-2 hours. After 1.5 hours I was told that I need an alignment, new brakes, and a new battery. First of all, I just had snow tires put on; my braking doesn’t seem any different to me and I hear no noises; and I literally just got a brand new battery. So I politely declined all those services. “What about the problem I came in for?” I asked (failed purge valve). I was told they didn’t have the part for that. WHAT?! I made the appointment for this purpose last week! It cost me 2 hours off my hourly wage job to be here. And instead of fixing what was broke they spent the whole time looking at different parts of my car that had nothing to do with the problem at hand. Ok, fine, they probably always do a thorough inspection, whatever. But then telling me things need fixed or replaced that I KNOW don’t- that was irritating. But here’s the icing on the cake: Almost as an afterthought, as I was about to leave, they mentioned that I have a mice nest under my ignition wires, which if I didn’t get rid of, the mice could chew through the wires, causing thousands of dollars worth of damage. I thanked them for bringing it to my attention. On my way home I thought “Why wouldn’t they kindly remove the nest for me? They didn’t even show me where it was at.” So now I’m driving around with a purge valve failure, which I was told by my car’s diagnostic system to have serviced within 7 days. I was told they would call me when the part came in. But now I’m afraid to go back there. More
