Waited almost a half hour after scheduling a day before and then calling ahead when I was going to be later than expected. Didn’t feel important as a customer who was there to actually walk out the door with a purchase same day, instead of tire kicking + people actually saying "Can you hurry, I want to go to the Toyota/Honda/etc across the street next." Took 30 minutes to even be acknowledged by staff after being told to wait. Will take my money elsewhere since the dealership owner ended up wasting my time over a small difference in a used car price over a car that’s been on the lot for over two months and longer; and quite dirty, vs another dealership with the same offer willing to "bargain".... which was just me offering the price Bertera originally offered on their first listing of the vehicle (13k)- not their insane price hikes I've come to learn about after researching. When I expressed interest the price jumped to 14k, and is currently sitting at 16k and showing as “reduced price.” Still had to give my drivers license and phone number over just to start the paperwork process for my would-have-been purchase, seems sketchy. Will be checking my phone for potential spam calls or potential selling my of number. More
I met with Katelyn after my Subaru was totaled. I test drove a forester which I liked but it made some weird noises and I said I was not comfortable buying it until I had it checked out by someone. She sa drove a forester which I liked but it made some weird noises and I said I was not comfortable buying it until I had it checked out by someone. She said I needed to put down a deposit or it would be sold quickly. I made it very clear that I was not comfortable with that but she pressured me into it and said it was refundable. She wrote refundable on the paper I signed but did not give me a copy, which in hindsight I now realize was very sketchy. Now I cannot get anyone to return my calls about this. I would not have had a problem if they were honest about deposits being nonrefundable but this was super shady and I regret trusting her and the dealership. I would recommend avoiding this dealership. More
After almost 30 days after we have left a deposit for a car and abominably failed to have it delivered based on the disclosures initially presented to us. I have to admit that the Bertera episode has been car and abominably failed to have it delivered based on the disclosures initially presented to us. I have to admit that the Bertera episode has been a truly pathetic experience which I do not wish to anyone on the market for a car. Dishonest and shady people running this dealership. Absolutely and unbelievably faulty and bleak management that could imminently lead to a massive disappointment and waste of your precious time. Stay away. More
Cassidy Vaughn struck me as a friendly, honest, understanding and customer focused representative who made this car buying experience pleasant for a change. And being in my 60’s I’ve had my fair s understanding and customer focused representative who made this car buying experience pleasant for a change. And being in my 60’s I’ve had my fair share of experiences where I would rate this one the best of them all. I’ll admit there was excessive waiting around at times but I chalk that up to the high number of customers being managed by the dealership at the time. Bottom line, Cassidy was very effective at managing all negotiations to my satisfaction and closed the deal honorably leaving me with no reservations. I’ll be seeking out Cassidy for my next Subaru purchase. More
My purchasing experience was great. The service department not so much. You can't even talk to anyone. I have emailed and called and nobody has bothered to get back to me. Tires for life program department not so much. You can't even talk to anyone. I have emailed and called and nobody has bothered to get back to me. Tires for life program is not worth the aggravation. Will never go back to Bertera More

The majority, instead of answering my request, tried to get me on the phone or visit their dealership, gave quotes for trims/packages I was not looking for, or gave quotes that were too high and were obviously meant as a starting point for negotiation. Greg Valuckas from Bertera got back to me quickly and provided the quotes I was asking for. The price he offered was already a good deal and there was no need to negotiate (which I hate). After my spouse & I decided to buy, we visited the dealership, where Derek Chen from the sales team helped us through the purchase process. Most of the documents were prepared before we arrived at the dealership, and it took us about an hour to sign and drive off with our beautiful new car! The whole process left us with a good feeling of getting a good deal and not being pressured or over-sold. More
Great car buying experience. Bought the car the same day I saw it for the first time. Great price, great financing, seamless transaction. The sale persons were terrific, starting with the internet salesper I saw it for the first time. Great price, great financing, seamless transaction. The sale persons were terrific, starting with the internet salesperson Greg Valuckus to the floor salesman Issa Daoud! Issa personally delivered the car to my home! Thank you Bertera! More
Test drove a car on Saturday, put down payment on Sunday, told on Monday someone else bought same vehicle. Apparently two different managers handling used car inventory can't speak to each other. I am sure t told on Monday someone else bought same vehicle. Apparently two different managers handling used car inventory can't speak to each other. I am sure they'll survive (they do sell Subaru's) but their business ethics are sketchy. Sales rep. was courteous, don't think I'll go back.... More

They will tell you one price to get you there then not honor that price. They will lie to your face. They will charge you more if you want to pay cash for your car, after a price has been settled upon. They will try to get you to promise not to leave bad reviews. They will use high pressure tactics to try to sell you bogus add ons. They will falsify milage reports and cafax reports! This last claim is true and really bad. I can't believe they did this. Do not buy from these people if you have a chance. The finance guy is a game show like huckster trying to get you to buy extra protections that consumer reports says are not a good deal. This part o I took my subaru in to perform a safety recall on the passenger side airbag. They completed the service and gave me a loaner for the day. This part of the process was simple, easy, and customer service oriented. However, when i received a phone call from a Service Center employee. I was told that they found a few issues during their routine inspection. I was told that the drive belt was cracking and was in need of replacement. I was quoted just over $300.00 dollars to perform this service. I declined the service. When I inspected the drive belt I found it to be in perfect working order. There were no cracks, fluid, or any other sign of a close to failing drive belt. I could even still read the part number on the belt. So, I was lied to. The part did not need to be changed. Further, based on the condition of the bolts holding the belt cover in place it is extremely unlikely that they even checked the drive belt, or many of the other parts they claim in their routine inspection. Fortunately I am proficient enough with my vehicle to double check against their claims but I know many people who are not and would have paid out a good chunk of change for a repair which was unnecessary. it is safe to say that I will not be returning to Bertera Subaru Hartford as a customer in any capacity; service, sales, nor parts.
