This is by far the worst experience I have had a car dealership. I drove 90 minutes to the location because I was interested in a Chevorlet Impala and they had reached out to me to tell me they could p More

Today I received a private message from a representative from Bertera. I talked to a sales manager who thankfully listened to me and told me he would get back to me. Will update the review if they call back to try to remedy the situation.

The initial private response from the dealer said that "I think you have taken some things out of context" I don't appreciate being told I am taking things out of context. Let me give a bit more context: The asking price for the car I wanted was $13477. Fairly early in this stressful process I offered to give $6000 + my trade in for $7000 =$13000 (Autotrader had said my car was worth $6863 and I had been emailed as well as had a phone conversation where I was told there was a potential buyer which would potentially make it so they could give me "a lot" more than normal for my trade in. Given that Autotrader rates were guaranteed, I assumed that was a reasonable normal. When I told Bryant this offer and told him I needed to go across the street and get a snack because my Fiance had low blood sugar and would be back in 20 minutes he tried to get me to sign a piece of scratch paper claiming I would buy the vehicle and told me he thought the deal was workable. I refused to sign the paper before first getting a snack and promised to return. Rather taking into account the customers well being (low blood sugar) he told me to wait (he still had my keys) while he got his manager. The manager who came over immediately accused me of both being unreasonable in my demands and being unwilling to commit. All I had asked for was 20 minutes to go talk with my fiance and to get a snack. Against my better judgment I stayed and talked with both of them. I tried talking to the manager and basically said that the starting point for negotiations should be the advertised sticker price minus the trade-in. He vehemently disagreed: insisting that the starting points should be the average price for an average 2012 impala with the average trade in for a car like mine (2007 honda accord). Now keep in mind: the only reason I drove upwards of 90 miles to their dealership was and I quote was that I received an email from Bertera Chevrolet saying " I believe I may have an interested buyer for your trade that will allow me to get a lot more money than normal." I struggled through a very frustrating conversation where for what I think was around 20 minutes I was not even given a number they were looking for for money they wanted. Finally when I pressured them into saying how much less they felt my car was worth because of 'imperfections' in my car that 'weren't marked on the autotrader description' the manager said that my car was probably worth around $800 less than what autotrader had said. So, let's do the math $6863-$800 is $6063. (You will see why this is important later). So at this point I'd like to point back to the fact that I was originally emailed by them saying they wanted to offer me "a lot more" than normal for my trade. If there was in fact $800 of imperfections in my car (I still claim there are less), Then I would say "a lot more" classifies as at least 10% or so (keep in mind that they knew I was driving 90 miles each way to visit the location). Anyway $6063*1.1= $6691.30. I would also like to point out that when I talked to Steve Gonzalez on the phone, he told me that because they are near several schools, they sell lots of honda's like mine to parents for their college students. I was told they would try to bring a potential buyer in when I came in for my appointment. When I came in for an appointment I was told that all honda's with more than 100,000 miles go to a nearby dealer. Sunday Bryant called me back. It was apparently mostly a courtesy call. In the process I asked him what the number was that they would offer for my vehicle. He said that usually they would offer $4000 to $5000 for such a vehicle and that he could probably get it up to $5500. So he asked me if I'd be willing to pay $13477-$5500=$7977 after trade in. He told me it was a good deal! I told him that maybe it was 'a good deal' but it wasn't a 'fair deal'. Apparently he didn't understand this because he went back to talking to it being a good deal again. Anyway let's review the trackable numbers from this whole situation. Sunday with Bryant: $6000 The offer I told Bryant I could probable do and that he said he thought with some work he could worked out. Sunday with Bryant's manager: $13477-$6083=7394 The effective number that I would have got the car from if I was offered the trade in value that Bryant's manager had implied. Monday: $13477-$5500=$7977 The deal Bryant claimed was 'a good deal on the phone'. Unprofessional conduct: Would not let us leave the store when I said I needed to go because my fiance's blood sugar was low. Got me to drive 90 miles to their dealership because they claimed that they had an interested buyer in my trade who they would try to get to take a look at the car when I was out there when no mention of this buyer was made at the dealership.

Josh, it is unfortunate that we were unable to help you understand the numbers and process clearly. The trade in marketplace is a valuble consumer AND dealership tool as it allows the guaranteed value to be the baseline for us to work on...its guaranteed for us both. Because of this, this higher it is, the better for everyone. We wish you good luck in your continued search. Respectfully, Brian Yarrows General Manager

Brian, I received an 800 on the quantitative SATs as well as on the Math Portion of the GRE's. I graduated xxx laude with a bachelors in mathematics and computer science. In fact, I am currently a PhD candidate at a nationally ranked university in computer science. If you were 'unable to help me understand the numbers and process clearly', quite frankly it is because of the ineptitude of yourself and your employees. I have bought multiple cars from dealerships before and never experienced anything that approached the level of deception that your dealership's employees consistently exhibit. My issue isn't with the number you offered me for my vehicle. I was in fact offered $5500 by your dealership. I went to another dealership who treated me respectfully and traded my vehicle in for $5000. My issue is that I have been consistently lied to and insulted by you and your co-workers. Aside from several other lies, I was told my car was worth $800 less than the autotrader rate by a Bertera employee. The $5500 offered is still less than $500 different than $6850-800 (You can use a calculator if you need to). It is unfortunate that I was unable to help you understand the numbers and the process of ethically and honestly communicating. I wish luck to future visitors of your lot in seeing your deceptive processes before signing any pieces of papers. Sincerely, Joshua
