Because of the age and high mileage on the vehicle the customer wanted to take the vehicle to his personal mechanic to have the vehicle inspected. This type of optional outside mechanic inspection is common on a used vehicle. At no time did Bernardi Honda offer to pay for any outside independent vehicle inspection. Customer makes arrangements with his mechanic to inspect the vehicle. Most of the items that came up from the outside inspection would have been completed on the vehicle at the price that was discussed. Customer returns later to dealership with list containing several additional items, not on the outside inspection and wants us to make the high mileage vehicle (appox 100,000 miles) “brand new”. Additionally customer wants 90 day bumper to bumper warranty, and 3 year transmission and engine warranty. Bernardi Honda explained that we can complete some of the requests on the vehicle but cannot do everything on this extensive list at the price that was being originally discussed. The customer could purchase some type of extended service agreement if they wanted to. Vehicles with that mileage come with 30 day powertrain coverage. Customer cancels purchase negotiations and on October 5th, 2010 Bernardi Honda refunds the $500.00 the same day that the customer put down to hold the vehicle. There was not a signed P&S. At no time did Bernardi Honda offer to pay for any outside independent vehicle inspection. Bernardi Honda wishes the customer luck in locating a used vehicle that fits his needs. -- Joel Richards, General Manager.
