I worked with Mike Williams at Berge Mazda. He quoted me a price & a monthly payment and said I would get a Costco discount. Guess what? When I finally got to the finance guy, big surprise. I should have a price & a monthly payment and said I would get a Costco discount. Guess what? When I finally got to the finance guy, big surprise. I should have walked out. Price was higher, monthly payments were higher and NO Costco discount. As a college professor, I make sure ALL of my students know about this situation. Don't worry, BAD NEWS will spread fast. More
I grew up in Mesa, very familiar with Berge so they were the dealer I called when I needed a car. Having just moved back from Germany I was without transportation and getting rides from to and from. I talke the dealer I called when I needed a car. Having just moved back from Germany I was without transportation and getting rides from to and from. I talked to Mike and he had the kind of car I wanted, a certified beetle. I told him I would be in the next day and asked what the hours were. He said he would be available from 8-5. I told him I would be there sometime during the day. He pressured me for a specific time and I explained to him I had no car and would get there when my ride could bring me. At 10:00 the next morning HE CALLED again trying to make me commit to a specific time. I again explained I would get there when I had a ride. Apparently this was not good enough and he called again. Super irritating as I had every intention of buying the car. Needless to say I was not in mood to reward his childish behavior so I bought a car someplace else. Loved the experienced and professsional salesman. Since then, mike has called me repeadedly leaving 4 or so voice mails. He finally reached me today and when I told him the reason for not coming in and that I had bought a car elsewhere he responded with the most sarcastic "congratulatios" immaginable. If you like harassment, childish, high pressure, unprofessional sales people go to this dealer. Oh, and before writing this I tried to call. Guess what? No managers were available. More
My experience was great until I was put into a finance room with Carmine Capo who out right lied about financing and extras not needed. The interest rate on the paperwork was higher than quoted by salespe room with Carmine Capo who out right lied about financing and extras not needed. The interest rate on the paperwork was higher than quoted by salesperson when I brought to his attention he acted like he made a mistake but looking back I'm sure he was hoping I would not notice. I would never ever suggest anyone use this dealership or beware of the finance department. More
I took my VW in for an engine check light coming on and was advised of an emission valve sticking open and was given a price for repair. The vehicle is no longer in waranty and their price was very expens was advised of an emission valve sticking open and was given a price for repair. The vehicle is no longer in waranty and their price was very expensive (labor rate $110 per hour) I paid to diagnose the problem and took the vehicle back. The very next day (after they had the vehicle all day the previous day) the car stalled on an offramp. I towed it to another dealership that was closer. That day, I found out that the fuel pump was removed from the car and when it was put back in, the lines were forceably bent, causing the car to act like it had no gas, thus stalling. Berge will not own up to the fact that during troubleshooting the car, they broke a the fuel pump. It was not bent when I took it into them. I know this because it had no problems for over 66k miles. Then, with the fuel pump forceably bent, it began to run like crap. Don't trust these people for even something simple like an oil change. Thisgs will mysteriously break and they will cover their lies with more lies and not care about the customer whatsoever. More
We purchased a used car from this dealer, within 24 hours the battery was dead. We attempted to contact the dealer, who stated the deal was as is and the battery could not be bad because their mechanic state the battery was dead. We attempted to contact the dealer, who stated the deal was as is and the battery could not be bad because their mechanic stated it was good. Installing the new battery led to some very big surprises: the battery was not checked, parts were missing from the battery plus it was obvious that the vent caps had not been removed and the fan shroud was missing bolts that hold it in place. Run, don't walk away from this dealership as I would never recommend them and the horrible experience I went through More
I had purchased a used 2004 RX8 from this dealership in Oct 2010. The car had 62,000 miles on it, when I hit 72,000 miles in 5/11 I started having problems with the car. The check engine light came on Oct 2010. The car had 62,000 miles on it, when I hit 72,000 miles in 5/11 I started having problems with the car. The check engine light came on and I took it in to the service dept at Berge Mazda. They were nice and smiled, and I was called later and told that they did the diagnostics($60) and that the solenoid was bad and it was not covered by my extended warranty. They said it was 3 hours of labor and it would cost me $591 and that might not fix the problem. They might have to go deeper and it would cost more. I told them I was going to take the car elsewhere and I brought it to Gary's Automotive in Chandler. Gary's automotive told me that 1. Under no circumstances would it take 3 hours, it is a one hour job at most. 2. Berge deleted all the codes after the diagnostic that I paid for was done. I paid for that, it is my car and they deleted the history on the car without my permission. 3. The solenoid they wanted to replace is attached to a shutter valve that was gummed up. It is all one assembly, replacing the solenoid by itself would not fix the problem, you have to replace the assembly. And that is only one hour of labor, not 3 hours. Basically Berge was trying to stick me for as much as possible in the service dept. They would call me back and say the solenoid didn't fix the problem and they would have to replace the shutter valve. Maybe they give out bonuses for who can charge a customer the most money. After that experience, one week later. The cars engine dies, literally at a stop light. I chose to take the car to a different Mazda dealership and had a much better experience. The engine was replaced by Mazda under warranty, but I only have a 12,000 mile warranty on the engine. Also the engine mounts were bad and mazda didn't cover that, so that costed me more money. To sum up, I am going to have to get rid of this car I love so much because the engine has a crappy warranty. I would love to keep it, but I will put 12,000 miles on this car in 7 months. I thought Mazda's were supposed to be reliable but I guess I was wrong. I honestly feel I bought a lemon. My whole experience with Mazda has left a bad taste in my mouth. In less than one week this car with only 72,000 miles costs me roughly $1000, and a dealership that was trying to fleece me, and a not to confident feeling in my car. I couldn't possibly recommend this dealership or Mazda to anyone. It's a shame, because I do love that car. More
This place is a joke. Saw the car online for $22,300. I went in and started the paperwork for 24,999. I pointed this out, showed the the (6) web ads at the price and then began a fifteen minute 'OMG that went in and started the paperwork for 24,999. I pointed this out, showed the the (6) web ads at the price and then began a fifteen minute 'OMG that price is so low, it's too low' session where the management acted mad about the price and the salesman played good cop. I had the car inspected (independently) and agreed to purchase the vehicle. The dealer refused to even prep the car for delivery because until they 'have a check, technically anyone can buy it.' Rather than wait for the weekend they offered to deliver the vehicle to me in Tucson and reluctantly I agreed. Before the salesman left I called to verify the terms. Good thing too; they upped the interest rate a full point 'by mistake' When they got here the salesman and sales manager said they had no idea how to process the car this way. (SERIOUSLY) Then we fumbled through the paperwork. There were a couple forms I didn't want to sign until they explained what they were for. The salesman didn't know and called Tracy (sales manager) who BEGAN the conversation with 'sir, I know you're frustrated... But...' I wasn't overly irritated until that moment but quickly became so after he kept interrupting while I was trying to answer his question. I had to repeat the title of the for seven, yes, seven times before he realized what I was saying what what he was asking for. The car was filthy and covered in bird xxxx. The adhesive from the windshield was still in a perfect strip where they tore it off. The salesman then got in my car and asked if I'd be willing to put some gas in it so he could make it back to Phoenix. I declined and he said 'good thing I brought cash' We said goodbye and off he drove. WITHOUT A LICENSE PLATE ON THE CAR. Seriously, he was driving over 120 miles up I-10 through some of the most police infested area's of the state and they hadn't thought far enough ahead to bring a dealer plate. Well, now I have the car in my driveway. I've owned it for all of 5 hours and I feel an overwhelming need to post my experience. These people failed at every single aspect of their very straightforward jobs. I should be happy, or excited, or something but right now I'm still trying to clean the adhesive goop off the rear deck lid where they also didn't fully remove their neon logo. Again, this place is a joke and if I didn't like the car as much as I do I would (and probably should) have walked away. More
We stopped at this establishment first on a day we planned to visit several dealerships. We were greeted by a very nice young man, who immediately helped us out with a test drive. We knew the Jeep w planned to visit several dealerships. We were greeted by a very nice young man, who immediately helped us out with a test drive. We knew the Jeep we were looking for from research done online. After a test drive we sat down and crunched some numbers with the salesman and the manager (also very nice). When we returned to the dealership we were greeted by another salesman. This gentleman was a pushy not so nice person (what you would expect from a sleazy used car salesman). We were presented with a document that was so offensive that I told them that not only would I not sign the document but that I will not do business with an establishment that had such a document. The document basically stated that once you drive off the lot you are up a creek without a paddle. An example of a statement in this document: If you car breaks in half you own two halves of a car and not to whine to the dealership. The pushy salesman kept asking me and my wife to sit and then followed us out to our car. What a joke of an experience. I would not recommend this dealership to anyone. And further would advise the two gentlemen who were really nice to seek employment elsewhere. More
Saw add on website for a 2009 mazda cx fo $19,900, went down to purchase car 10/6/10, they said we couldnt finance it, then when we were leaving said No we can with payments under $500 a month. Reluctant m down to purchase car 10/6/10, they said we couldnt finance it, then when we were leaving said No we can with payments under $500 a month. Reluctant my husband and i filled out paperwork, when reviewing contract it stated that on a 3 year loan a $20,ooo car would cost us $50,ooo i asked JANET Finance Mgr why. She said contract just prints out like that that we would be paying a total of $27ooo. Took the car home, after 1 st week contacted dealer cause car did not start 3 times, had it towed and a battery replaced. The daler stated that it was WEAR & TEAR and our responsibilty, when I asked how it was possible to use up a 2 year guaranteed battery in less then a week again they stated it was our fault. On 10/11/10 we recvd a call from Janet (Finance Mgr) wh stated Financing fell through and to return car. When asked what happened she rudely exclaimed that we need to return car immediately and that we could not drive a free car. I called Janet back and asked why it had taken almost 2 weeks for the finance paperwork to be sent, and was told that it was sales rep error, however sales rep told us JANET went on vacation for a week and left paperwork sitting. We returned the car on 10/13/10 to sales rep (Sabrina), had advised her that the insurance company needs a statement from them with their letterhead to stop automatic payments of $160 a month coming out of our bank account for insurance o car. She stated that would be taken care of. It is now Mid December and almost $500 has been taken out of our bank account for insurance on a car we never owned. The dealership has been contacted literally EVERY OTHER DAY for this Simple Letter. At last my husband called SABRINA yet again regarding letter and she stated that she had to put in letter that the car was purchased and that she would fax it out. THE CAR WAS NEVER PURCHASED and SHE NEVER FAXED THE LETTER. as of today 12/9/10 we have not recvd a Follow through on this matter and are still be taken for $160 a month on a car we do not own. My husband and I have contacted our attorney who will be filing against BERGE MAZDA if the paperwork is not submitted by the end on closing 12/10/10. They Lied and pushed us into a car they knew would be financed, took additional money from us, WARRANTY is crap on car, plus held us responsible for repairs that should have been they're responsibility. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THHIS DEALER TO ANYONE.... NOT EVEN MY WORST ENEMY More
