I've had two bad experiences with this service department. 1. I arrived on time for my appointment and waited over an hour for my car to be processed and for a dirty rental car to be provided. department. 1. I arrived on time for my appointment and waited over an hour for my car to be processed and for a dirty rental car to be provided. The rental even had a used medical face mask and an open pack of cigarettes on the passenger side floor. This was during Covid! John Powell was my service advisor. He had a negative attitude with us the entire visit. He was unapologetic about the situation. I had to escalate to get the situation addressed and to get out of there. I spent between 1-2hrs there. 2. While refilling my gas tank using a portable canister, somehow the plastic nozzle got stuck in the filler neck. I still have no idea how this happened, as I did not use force at all. I tried to extract it by hand, but I was unsuccessful. I asked the service department for help removing it. They assured me they had it covered. John was my service advisor, again. While removing the nozzle, they broke the inside of the tank's filler neck. This led to the need for a fuel tank replacement that they quoted near $5,000USD. I called to cancel the service/parts order as I was suspicious of their diagnosis, based on consultation by another dealership. First, John warned me that I would be responsible for a restocking fee if I cancelled, but he couldn't tell me how much the fee was. I asked him to find out the cost of the fe. He called back later and, without mentioning the fee at all, offered a small discount and insisted that if I did not agree right then to proceed that I would lose the discount. This seemed suspicious. I declined. I went to pick up the car the next day. There was no restocking fee mentioned at all. After inspecting the vehicle and seeing the damage myself, I asked John if there was anything that they could do to rectify the situation since the damage was clearly during their extraction and on their premises. John did not deny that they caused the damage. Instead John, with an attitude, said "well I tried to offer you a discount and you didn't want it." I smiled, said thanks and left. Afterwards, I shared my experience with a service manager Michael Hill who, at first, was very courteous and helpful. Michael offered to look into it by pulling surveillance footage and reviewing with leadership. He promised me a return call. It never came. I could not get him on the phone. I ended up having to start over again with a different service manager afterwards. This one was less willing to help. He starts the phone call with “so I hear you’re accusing us of...” which is bonkers. He reached out to the tech. He explained that the tech claims that he observed the damage to the filler neck before the spout was removed. I pointed out to the manager that this is physically impossible. How is it possible to see the inside of a gas tank flier neck when a plastic spout is inside of it, filling it? He had no explanation for this. I gave up with them and am in the process of escalating to corporate. Bad experience overall. I definitely do not recommend this dealership. In the end, I ended up paying to repair the damage that they caused by replacing the tank at a different authorized MB dealership. The price was much lower than even the *discounted* price offered by the Englewood dealership that *caused* the damage. Stay away. More
