Annoying and Mysterious Whistling Sound Resolved Only by Bennett Toyota When driving over 45 mph, my Camry made a whistling wind sound inside the cabin. I took my car to several well-known area Toyota service centers in the tri-county area to seek a solution to the annoying whistling sound. The “mechanics” at those Toyota dealerships “blew me off” stating in their response that they could not verify the sound. One said the sound was an “exterior sound” coming from the “wind blowing over my mirrors”. Another dealership said the sound was a “normal” sound the engine may make at times. The sound occurred continuously all the time over a certain speed while driving the car. Not sure why the mechanic there could not hear? While visiting my family in west central Pennsylvania, I decided to visit a dealership that I respected to have them check the mysterious whistling sound. Their mechanic said he could not hear anything and provided no solutions. I endured that annoying sound for two years! I decided to give Bennett Toyota in Lebanon a try. They purchased Lebanon dealership after Diamond Toyota left town a few years ago. I explained to the service manager, Kyle Wentz, what was happening and what the other dealerships said about the whistle. Kyle went for a ride with me in the car. He could hear the whistling sound and immediately started looking for sources as we drove. When we returned to Bennet Toyota, he looked at all the weather stripping and seals on the driver’s side finding a “malformed” weather stripping. The part was quickly ordered and installed resulting in the whistling sound going away. Later, I noticed a “different higher pitched whistling sound” was happening when driving over 55 mph. I contacted Kyle sharing what was happening. He was as concerned about the annoying sound as was I! He kept the car for two days and found the problem to be factory installed missing sealant on the driver’s side of the windshield which was not visible until all the trim was removed. At last, I enjoyed peaceful driving without the annoying whistling!!! In closing, three other Toyota dealerships were unable to fix the problem! Bennett Toyota’s Lebanon Service Center came to my rescue and saved my sanity by finding both sources of the annoying whistling sounds! Kyle Wentz runs a Service Department that is TOPS in Service!
