Closing the loop on this thread for anyone who may be following. I eventually got in touch with Amanda. I explained in detail the lapses in communication and the problematic handling of this incredibly pricey repair. Was told that despite bringing the car in twice (within the warranty window) for review of the faulty repair, and despite my conversations with Amanda still being within the warranty window, Bellingham Nissan denied both compensation for the faulty repair or to cover the still necessary fixes. What might have been most troubling is that of the two times I brought the car in to have the repair looked at, one visit was intentionally mislabeled as a "body repair estimate." I have never once brought my car into this shop for a body repair estimate. This was clearly done in a malicious attempt to mislabel the reason for the visit to the shop to weasel out of honoring the warranty. To be honest, all of this feels crooked at best and at worst illegal. Now I am left to consider filing a small claims suit to force the honoring of the warranty, or to move on. For anyone looking for a honorable shop, Rising Sun Motors is across the street and far more ethical. Would highly recommend you avoid buying a Nissan (used or new) in Bellingham as this is the type of customer you can expect to receive.
