Hi Rachel, I am very sorry to hear you are having trouble with the car. I am not sure who you spoke with, but the owner does not work at this facility. I am the general manager and have been for nearly 4 years. Your satisfaction with our company is very important to us. Please call me at 800-358-4029, I will be happy to hear you out and fix the problems we promised we would take care of. My service manager mentioned you have cancelled several appointments set to correct the issues you described...how can I help?

I read your review on Dealer Rater with some sadness. Belknap Subaru does not use any type of bait and switch tactics. We are a small country dealership that places great value on upfront, and honest dealings. I would like to suggest an alternative to the description of events you described. Your husband called the dealership based upon vehicles available on our web site. He inquired on a very desirable vehicle, a 6,000 mile, recent trade. The salesperson suggested that if he were interested he could place a deposit on the vehicle to hold it until you could visit. He declined, because he needed to speak with you before making any commitment. In the meantime a few days went by and we did not hear from you. My manager Bob Vaillancourt called your home and alerted you to the fact that the original vehicle had been sold, but we did have others and would make it worth your while. You did in fact say the deal was out the door. We did not realize you were including your Vermont sales tax in that bottom line. We do not collect sales tax in New Hampshire and the few vehicles we sell in Vermont, we have never run into this. I am very sorry about the vehicle that smelled of smoke. We try to recondition every vehicle to as close to new condition as possible. I am not sure what, if anything I could do to help rectify that issue. I hate the idea of any customer feeling this way about our company or our employees. I apologize for the misunderstanding regarding sales tax. I am sure you are used to doing business with dealers familiar with that practice. If you have any suggestions I would be eager to hear your thoughts. I must take issue with your description of our employees. These are very good people in fact before you left the dealership they had your car washed and vaccumed and returned it to you for your safe return back to your home. I understand being angry about the sales tax, but this was clearly not an attempt to do something dishonest. We apologize for any inconvenience, and sincerely hope you find a car that will meet your needs. Respectfully, Scott Ives General Manager --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
