Wendell was very flexible and worked with me to get the best pricing for my new car, trade in, and great financing. When I received my car, it was spotless, and ready to go. It rides like a dream. I have alot of confidence in Toyota. As a Yaris and previous Camry owner,I believe Toyota makes a great line of cars. More
I live in College Station, Texas, and had been searching across the country for a 2001-2004 Toyota Tacoma four-door 4X4 for eighteen months when I encountered one online at Beck Toyota in Indianapolis. It's across the country for a 2001-2004 Toyota Tacoma four-door 4X4 for eighteen months when I encountered one online at Beck Toyota in Indianapolis. It's important to note that on any given day in the U.S., perhaps as few as six, maybe as many as twenty of these particular vehicles will be for sale. In short, they're hard to find. Moreover, when I ran across Beck's listing, this one proved cleaner than nearly every other one I'd seen--AND for a lesser price. My thoughts ran first to the proverbial, "It's too good to be true," or "Something's gotta be horrifically wrong with the vehicle for Beck to be selling at that price," but given the truck's immaculate condition, I just had to call and ask. When Wendell Dossett, Beck Toyota's Internet Sales Manager, answered the phone (and I mean immediately--he didn't call me back hours later like some), he quickly assuaged my concerns. In fact, he told me, the Carfax indicated the vehicle had only one owner, and Beck Toyota had performed virtually every single service procedure that the vehicle had ever required since it was factory new. The Carfax indeed bore that out. Again I thought, "This IS too good to be true." With excitement mounting, I asked Wendell if he could take a few more photos [actually, a lot more] than the online listing showed. Not only did he NOT tell me, "I'll have to get back to you on that," he immediately walked outside into the Indianapolis winter with camera in hand while STILL ON THE LINE with me, asking me the whole way, "What shots would you like?" He climbed up on something to shoot the roof to prove no hail damage. He got down on his hands and knees to photograph the undercarriage, and even took several more shots than I asked for. After studying both the incredibly detailed Carfax and the photos Wendell emailed me within the hour, I knew I needed to take the leap... but I live in Texas. How will this work? Wendell Dossett graciously talked me through tax, title, & licensing questions, interstate commerce procedures, and a very reasonable, fully-refundable deposit, after which he assured me that if the vehicle was mine. This is important because I had put down deposits at other dealerships who grew impatient with me and sold their trucks out from under me before I could gather my cashier's check, plane tickets, & hotel reservations. Wendell did no such thing. In fact, he pulled my truck off the internet (he had to--people were inundating him with calls for this really clean Tacoma), assured me my vehicle was safe for the buying, and said he couldn't wait to meet me. A transaction of this magnitude would normally cause me much anxiety, especially since I was flying from across the country to purchase a vehicle, sight-unseen (outside of Beck's pics), but Wendell eased my concerns every step of the way, assuring me my deposit would hold the truck, working patiently & jovially with me as we proceeded with paperwork over the phone and via email, fielding every question with competence & understanding--AND nearly two decades of experience in the business. I flew up (landing in the recent blizzard) where Wendell had a wonderful woman, Robin, waiting to pick me and my fellow road warrior up at the airport. When we returned to the dealership, Wendell welcomed us with handshakes, cold Cokes, and a big smile. Moreover, and this really sold me: after driving the truck himself, he had noted a slight shimmy in the front end. It turned out to be the rotors--which Beck graciously machined to like-new condition, something they didn't have to do (and a $200 value), but they did anyway. The truck didn't have any floor mats. Wendell quickly found me some. I knew by then that undoubtedly, I had come to the right place for my new Tacoma. If my experience with Wendell Dossett and Beck Toyota in any way suggests what all their other customers encounter (and I suspect it does), then buyers would be hard-pressed to enjoy a more simple, more relaxing, more fulfilling car buying experience than I had with Wendell & Beck Toyota. I wholeheartedly endorse them for anyone in the market for a Toyota, new or used--whether you live in the Indianapolis area or anywhere else across the U.S. Take my advice: don't waste your time Toyota-shopping elsewhere :o) Matt, College Station, Texas More
I was able to purchase a 2010 Prius at a fair price. Beck toyota responded quickly to my request to buy a Toyota Prius within the next week. After I told them the specifics of what I was looking for they gave me the best price within a 50 mile radius. Mr. Dossett was very friendly and helpful. My dad and I both felt like he cared about helping us decide if the truck met our needs and was in our price range. My wife and I were in the market for a pre-owned Honda Odyssey. After days of searching online visiting autotrader.com and countless dealership sites, I knew what model and trim level I wanted. After narrowing down the search further, I began visiting dealerships with whom I've conducted business before to no avail, everyone wanted more than market value for their vans or the odometers were nearing the six digit range. After looking at a few vans in person, I found that interior cleanliness was next to impossible to find, even after going through respective dealerships' detail services. I was frustrated to the point of defeat when I stumbled upon Beck Toyota's listing for a pre-owned 2005 Honda Odyssey EX-L. They were about $2-3,000 cheaper than anyone else with 20,000 fewer miles than anyone else even at the higher price point. I called down to Mr. Dossett and asked him point-blank, "Is this thing clean? I've seen some trashed vans today and I don't want to drive down to Greenwood only to be faced with another dirty vehicle." Wendell assured me that he had taken the vehicle in on trade personally and that the vehicle was exceptionally clean, in and out, and that he'd driven it around the block as well. Reluctantly, I went out on a limb and took his word for it, drove down to Greenwood and took the Odyssey out for test drive. The van was virtually perfect considering it's age and mileage, I didn't feel the need to haggle one bit on purchase price. Once I returned to the dealership, Wendell and I sat down and talked numbers, he had my trade-in appraised at a fair price, and we ironed out the details. All in all, a relatively painless process and welcome end to my used-vehicle buying experience. The reason I feel compelled to share my excellent experience with the Beck Toyota team, from Mr. Dossett to signing the deal with Mr. Rose in the F&I department is great contrast it provides from my otherwise negative opinion of the buying process formed by dealership practices. I have been jerked around every way imaginable by numerous dealerships in purchasing vehicles for my wife and myself, as well as assisting friends and family get into the right vehicles, and have never had a better all-around experience than I did at Beck Toyota. I really appreciated Mr. Dossett staying late on a Friday night in order to show and let me test drive a used Toyot my recent visits to Beck Toyota. I really appreciated Mr. Dossett staying late on a Friday night in order to show and let me test drive a used Toyota Tundra that I had seen advertised on AutoTrader.com. Mr. Dossett was very friendly and courteous, and he was even familiar with the company I work for, Toyota Tsusho. There were some very noticeable scratches on the truck's tailgate, so I asked Mr. Dossett if he could reduce the asking price. He was able to do so, and the money I saved was used to get the tailgate repainted. The only catagory that I didn't rate as "great" was quality of work. I noticed excess car polish on the truck body during the walk-around inspection. The polish initially looked like scratches, but I was able to rub it off with my finger. Not a big deal, but I'm somewhat particular about paint as I used to work in TMMI's paint shop. Overall, I had a great experience at Beck Toyota and would recommend the dealership to others. More
