Found a 2012 Kia Optima through AutoTrader that we liked and made an internet query. Contacted immediately by Nica who answered all questions without hesitation. This particular dealership was over a 2 h and made an internet query. Contacted immediately by Nica who answered all questions without hesitation. This particular dealership was over a 2 hour drive for us, so needless to say we were very much interested. Internet trade in appraisal showed $3,900 for trade in value based on the information provided. When speaking with Nica regarding this, she stated this was typically the minimal amount approved. Just prior to leaving home, we received a call from the dealership checking up on us and letting us know they would be waiting. After arriving at the dealership through nasty weather including sleet and freezing rain, we were greeted by Tim, our salesman. Tim had a friendly appearance and braved the inclement weather to show us two vehicles. Due to time constraints, we began review of the numbers and the typical back and forth process between the salesman and the sales manager started. They brought out the trade in value which was $400 less than the Car Trader appraisal due to a broken door latch, I assume, that wasn't noted. The part itself is $30 to replace. The first set of numbers didn't appeal to us at all, so Tim graciously took the numbers back to the sales manager to rework. After the 2nd trip back, the number still were not where we needed them to be, so he diligently returned to the sales manager again only to come back with almost the same offer. At that point, we didn't feel we were going to be able to make a deal even with 3k cash down, so as we began standing up, typical of car dealers, the sales manager comes up to us. What stood out to me the most was he didn't even introduce his self nor did he extend a handshake as is customary for this business. I extended my hand and said "you must be the sales manager." Even with the haggling, he insulted me with his offer even further and I noted to them that once I left I would not return even if they reduced the car by thousands simply because of principle. I have run numbers for 16 years and the sales manager had the audacity to tell me that my numbers must be wrong. Needless to say, he didn't offer any tangible numbers to the contrary. After realizing our total 4 hour roundtrip drive was a bust, I couldn't help but think on the way home how nice the internet sales rep, Nica was and how genuine the salesperson, Tim seemed to be. I did not catch the sales manager's name but I would be ashamed to call him a manager at my business. In my line of work, an introduction, firm handshake, and a smile go a long ways and I did not feel him emulating customer service at all. My advice would be to take your business elsewhere and save yourself the hassle. More

Internet sales process was deceitful. I made a very specific offer and required a tentative sight-unseen agreement with consummation pending inspection of my trade to ensure that I had represented the specific offer and required a tentative sight-unseen agreement with consummation pending inspection of my trade to ensure that I had represented the car's condition truthfully (NOT pending a valuation of my trade, which can be done without seeing the actual car and since I had specified an approximate value that I would have to receive as a trade credit to make the deal work). The sales consultant said she reviewed my offer with a manager and that they agreed to my terms and out-the-door total financed amount. Unfortunately, I later found out that the consultant carefully chose her words in her final email to me which the salesman and manager used to weasel out of the deal after I had driven nearly two hours to the dealership. I asked what issues they had with my trade that made them not able to complete the agreement we had made the day before over email. I never received a specific answer. I was told only that my car was not worth enough to get to the total financed amount we previously agreed upon. Only problem there is that WE HAD ALREADY AGREED that they were going to have to put X dollars into my trade to get to the total financed number I needed to purchase the vehicle (unless, of course, they wanted to adjust the top line asking price instead of loading up the trade...it really didn't matter to me how they got there, but the point is we had an agreement what the number needed to be). When the consultant said over email "we will do the deal," I took that to mean that the only thing to derail the deal was if my car was in poor condition or had specific issues (which it did not). Granted, it was my fault for not recapping the deal one final time before driving out to Greensboro (there is a reason car dealerships and salesmen have a poor reputation in our culture), but I still feel that the people involved with my experience were intentionally deceitful in an attempt to lure me to the dealership knowing full well they could not meet my offer demands. The way they handled me showed total disregard for the customer and was a complete waste of my time. Oh, and I forgot to mention that when I arrived at the dealership at the time I said I would be there no one in the building seemed to know who I was or why I was there! Fantastic coordination between departments to ensure a great customer experience, Battleground Kia! (That was sarcasm if you couldn't tell). More
I saw 2 cars online that I wanted to look at for my daughter who is graduating high school in a couple of weeks. I was not going let her go because I wanted to surprise her when she graduated, but dec daughter who is graduating high school in a couple of weeks. I was not going let her go because I wanted to surprise her when she graduated, but decided to let her pick the one she wanted. I called to see if both cars were there and was told they were and would be out front. I talked to Terri Whitey 3 times before I left home because it was a 1-1/2 hr drive one way. When I arrived, I was told by a Salesman 1 car had been sold 2 days ago and he would go get the other. When he returned he said both cars had been sold. I then asked to speak to the manager who was Steve Schoffer. He said the 2nd had been sold 45 minutes before we arrived. I explained what I had been told earlier and about the drive I made to get there and all he said was "I don't hold cars for anyone. I'm sorry". Then he said he was holding the car because he had received a deposit of $2000. We overheard him say the 2nd car went to Auction. After a four hour round trip, no car, wasted gas I called back and talked to Terri. She told me 1 car was sold last night and the other 2 days ago. This morning she said "BOTH" cars were there. This was a VERY BAD experience for me and my daughter and a WASTED day. I would not recommend Battleground Kia to anyone. More
My wife took her 2005 Kia Spectra into the service department at Battleground Kia to have a check engine light diagnosed and the parts replaced. This check engine light would not allow a NC vehicle in department at Battleground Kia to have a check engine light diagnosed and the parts replaced. This check engine light would not allow a NC vehicle inspection and we could not get the license tag renewed. My wife left the vehicle at the dealership at 730am and came back to the dealership at 515pm to pick the vehicle up. She had to wait until 6pm due to the vehicle was not finished. The total of the service work was $40 for a part and over $200 in labor costs. She was told that this may not fix the problem. I am sorry but if this was not going to fix the problem why was further diagnostics and troubleshooting not performed and here is the big issue, why was she charged for Inferior service work. This place of business has had 11 complaints over the past 3 years and 7 complaints in the past 6 months, this according to the Better Business Bureau. What is ironic is that Battleground Kia is a BBB Accredited Business. We have issued a complaint to Kia Motors USA, the Better Business Bureau and are disputing the charges through our financial institution. So far the BBB has decided to sweep it under the rug. The response of the dealership to the BBB complaint is so full of falsehoods that i simply could not believe what i was reading. Now let me be perfectly honest, my wife and i have been loyal to Kia. We have owned a Kia Sedona van, a Kia Spectra (the vehicle that had the check engine light), and still have a Kia Sorento SUV. We were looking to purchase our 4th Kia, but due to the inferior service we received at Battleground Kia, my wife purchased a 2013 Toyota Corolla from Rice Toyota. It is my desire that all of my Facebook friends in and around Greensboro, NC forward this to all of their friends so that they may be aware of the issue i have had with Battleground Kia. I simply do not wish anyone else to have this happen to them. My family does not have idle funds to throw away on inadequate and inferior service. Oh and i forgot to mention the time that my wife had an appointment for an oil change to her vehicle during her lunch hour from work. Some 3 hours later Battleground Kia finally found her vehicle. To say she was mad that time was the understatement of the century. Oh and if there is any question as to if we still have the Kia Spectra, NO, nor will i purchase another Kia. My wife and i have owned 3 Kia's and were very loyal to the brand, but no more. More
Their GM has no skills with dealing with complaining costumers regarding a simple fix. Basically, he told me verbally didn't give a poop and it was my car and it was my problem regarding a freaking GPS costumers regarding a simple fix. Basically, he told me verbally didn't give a poop and it was my car and it was my problem regarding a freaking GPS update....Lets just say poop wasn't the word. I for a fact will never ever deal with them again. It doesn't matter that their salesman act professional when their GM is a total jerk off. I won't even take my car for a cheap oil change they keep on emailing me to get my business in oil changes ect.... All I have to say is, if you do business with them CHECK EVERYTHING INCLUDING THE RADIO... They are that shallow.. STAY CLASSY MR BATTLEGROUND KIA GM!!! As far as I am concerned I updated my GPS with a Honda dealership and bought a second car with them... But this place is a buyer beware ask for a car fax have your own mechanics check the vehicle from top too bottom because Battleground Kia should not be trusted to do the right thing. By the way from here on out your emails go directly too spam...Mieneke on wendover checks vehicles for $60 bucks. I highly recommend it as you can see Battleground Kia preys on the kindness of people. They are out too get the $$$$$$$$$$ at all cost and will take short cuts... More
I don't live in NC but I work at PTIA airport from time to time. I drive across the nation for my employer chasing airplanes. I had been having issues with my car and they finally took its toll on my pat to time. I drive across the nation for my employer chasing airplanes. I had been having issues with my car and they finally took its toll on my patience; I had been contemplating buying a Kia and had been to the Kia dealer in by by home in Texas. I had priced and figured out what I wanted but was reluctant to buy because my current car was in NC and I had not sold it yet. I went to Battle Ground Kia with the expectation of similar service I was afforded in Texas, I was very wrong. My salesperson was Jeff, a Navy veteran just like myself, he was very cordial polite and excited to sell. I explained to him my situation and we started by looking at the car I was originally looking to purchase in Texas. They had some close but didn't have what I wanted on the lot. Myself being stressed by my situation fell into the sales routine and he started trying to sell me used cars. None proved worthy so we switched back to new cars and drove a Sorrento. The experience was nice and I specifically explained to Jeff my financial situation and that I am only interested in bottom numbers, that monthly payment numbers mean nothing to me because I will finance the car as I see fit not a dealer recommendation. After the test drive he asked the million dollar question "What would it take to get you in this car?" I responded an absurdly low number and he replied the expected "no way". We entered his cube and started to discuss in a more serious fashion. I explained that his dealer mark-up was not happening; no one should pay $2995 above MSRP in this economy. He took note and off he goes to the manager. He returns with a 4-Blocker matrix that had the full markup and MSRP with monthly payment data and some other junk. I lost it! When will these dealerships stop preying on people? I wasn't desperate enough to fall into that kind of crap. I could rent a private plane and fly back to Texas to purchase exactly what I want and still have a few grand left over compared to what they marked up on the car. Jeff was a trooper and I hope his value system hasn't been compromised by the management at that dealership. These predatory dealership tactics should be frowned upon by all auto manufactures. Even Harley Davidson’s mark-ups had a reason for being there. Kia is just another car; I moved on and may even consider buying a Ford because of Battle Ground Kia. The current economy has money at the top of a hill and a plentiful bounty of cars at the bottom there is no reason to pay extra for anything. Battle Ground Kia hasn’t figured that out yet. More
I dealt with this inquiry on the internet and it was a terrible experience. I e-mailed them what I was in search for and was contacted within 5 minutes from my subbmission(that was good). I informed the terrible experience. I e-mailed them what I was in search for and was contacted within 5 minutes from my subbmission(that was good). I informed the young lady that handles the internet sales that I was shopping around and was not commited to buying at this time and would like some information on the Optima she commented that she was going to have to go out on the lot and find out if they had what I wanted and she would get right back to me 2 weeks later she sends me a e-mail that read "she had not heard from me in a while and was I still interested in the Optima." I called the dealership and asked for someone in sales and got the sales manager who was friendley at first and was very accomindating with my request and also told me he would have to check the lot to see if they had the car that I wanted and he would call me back, he called back in about 10 minutes(that was good). Then we talked price and I told him what I was wanting to pay, he said that I was crazy to think that I could get that car for that price. I was expecting a counter offer but there was none given I apoligized for wasting his time and he hung up on me. Never recieved a call back from them again. I have since bought a 2013 Kia Optima from Blackwell Dodge/Kia in Danville Va which was a great experience all the way around Battleground Kia could take lessons from these Ladies and Gentleman on how to treat a customer that calls them on a vehicle. I looked at a used Sorento. Dealership would not budge on the price. I get home and they have called wanting to deal and the price on their website is $600 cheaper. Two days later and see the white Sore on the price. I get home and they have called wanting to deal and the price on their website is $600 cheaper. Two days later and see the white Sorento so I call and speak to the salesman that tried to help and was told the car had been sold at auction although another friend called 10 minute later and was told the car was on the lot. Called back and was told it was a different car. Funny, since the first day I looked at it the sales-manager explained to me how this one was special that it had a moon roof and leather interior and that you never find sorentos with those items and that is why he couldn't come off the price. When he was confronted with it he lied some more. More
