I have had 3 happy service calls at Basil VW. The sales department however is another story............ Nick the young man who we toured the car with and test drove with was great. He can't be praised enough. Adam Beck on the other hand the " general sales manager" is another story. In this reviewers opinion he has no place in today's internet centric car sales environment. We looked at a car at 6:30 pm and by 8:30 were VERY close to a deal, but we were tired and the dealership was about to close, so we, and Nick decided to pick things up the next day. Nick said " Adam wants to say goodbye, it's company policy" Fine we think, Adam is the sales manager after all, Adam darts out of his office and instead of "goodbye" or a friendly " let's close this deal tomorrow" the first thing out of his mouth is " if you don't accept my deal right now it won't be there tomorrow" Woa... what ........ excuse me........ I clarified this with Adam Beck in front of Nick and he reiterated " If I don't hear from you by 9:30 tomorrow that offer is gone" Wait a minute, I never accepted your last offer.........we were still negotiating, we were several hundred dollars off, and there were repair issues with this car. He then says " I haven't sold a car all day, I need to get a sale today" well buddy not with that dirty trick, not from me anyway. As we left I said perhaps I should go to Schmidts VW instead........his reply " Go ahead go to Schmidts" Ok I do not respond well to threats, and ultimatums, who does.....? Why would this tactic be acceptable in todays marketplace.....? Well believe it or not the next day the Used VW manager James Porko actually calls and says " I'm following up on your visit last night I want to know if you were satisfied with your experience" These are his actual words, wait a minute "Did you even talk to Adam Beck" I say......" well no...no I haven't " he says. I promptly suggest that he touch base with Adam Beck to clearly understand how badly things deteriorated....... I asked James Porko if these sales tactics are condoned by him, he said yes he actually defends Adam Beck's behavior! In my opinion defending the hard sell, ** this deal expires if you leave** is unthinkable, what are they afraid of if we leave......? Oh are they afraid we will use the power of the internet to learn more about the car we're buying, the fair price...? Bottom line, I'm the one spending money, why should I be made at all uncomfortable? James Porko, and Adam Beck succeeded in making this customer extremely uncomfortable, and unwelcome!! Fast forward 1/2 day and Mike Basil himself is in contact with an " olive branch" to salvage this badly damaged relationship. His apology( for his employees behavior) was sincere, and his offer is acceptable, but...... this relationship is permanently damaged, Adam Beck and James Porko made sure of that with their behavior. It seems based on other reviews on this site ( Jennifer K) that these two people have a pattern of behavior................interesting isn't it................ More
They lie & cheat people! They don't even deserve one star. I purchased a used car from this dealership on 1/18 and quickly realized that I had been conned by these crooks (in my opinion). They never disclosed the mechanical issues the car had and advised the car had features that it doesn't actually carry. I tried to get them to take the car back on 1/19 and they refused. I tried to get them to fix the issues and they refused. I have a limited warranty, which the car is still under and they are refusing to honor the warranty. I have pointed out several times that the issues I'm having are clearly included in the warranty but they still refuse to honor it. In fact they keep making excuses as to why it's not covered. The general manager claims that the warranty doesn't cover a power steering pump, but the warranty clearly says it does. He claims it's "not a mechanical failure" How do you give people a warranty when you're refusing to honor it?! I've emailed the owner, Mike Basil, but apparently he's too good to deal with this issue or then minions who put money in his bank account. I've spoken to the used car manager, James Porco, who spent 30+ mins berating me, called me uneducated, telling me how I "got smoked by 2 VW dealers (them and the dealer I bought the car I traded in), etc. He claims the car was perfect when I left the dealership so I must have done the damage and now the general manager claims I signed something in acknowledgement of these issues. So which one is it? How can a car be perfect when it leaves the dealer if I signed this paper that acknowledges it is not? Also, who would buy a car knowing it had severe mechanical issues, especially since I asked AJ (the idiot that sold the car to me) several times if the car was okay and safe to drive?? These people lie, cheat and make every excuse not to honor their commitments. Do not ever buy a car from these people. They're super nice until an issue comes up, then it's not their problem. More
First Car I bought a Passat as my first car and I am more than happy with the vehicle and the employees there that helped me out. Even with no credit, they found a way to get me accepted with payments under $200 for the Passat. Also the service department was very fast and good. Also The sales rep, AJ did an awesome job and was very helpful. I totally recommend this place. More

Love my Jetta GLI AUTOBAHN Stopped in last Tuesday evening to look at a 2013 Jetta GLI Autobahn. I had asked Ryan to please bring the car in doors because it was snowing out. When I arrived I was greeted at the door by Ryan. We went over and looked at the vehicle which was indoors the car looked absolutely beautiful just as Ryan had indicated on the phone. Ryan was very knowledgeable about the vehicle since he actually owns a gli himself. After 8 test drive we actually purchased the car we were given a fair value for my trade in.We were treated in a very friendly and professional manner by Ryan and his manager James. We look forward to doing business again in the future I will send friends and family to visit this dealership thanks again you guys rock! More
