Subject: Extremely Disappointing CPO Experience at Baron BMW - Buyer Beware! My recent attempt to purchase a Certified Pre-Owned 2023 BMW 760i from Baron BMW was, without a doubt, the worst dealership ex BMW - Buyer Beware! My recent attempt to purchase a Certified Pre-Owned 2023 BMW 760i from Baron BMW was, without a doubt, the worst dealership experience I have ever encountered. As an out-of-state buyer who frequently searches nationwide for vehicles, I was excited to work with what I hoped would be a reputable BMW dealership. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. After agreeing on a price and traveling to inspect the vehicle and sign paperwork, numerous issues arose. The Certified Pre-Owned documentation provided was a rudimentary Word document with checkboxes, lacking the detailed multi-point inspection reports I've received from other BMW dealerships recently. Furthermore, the tire measurements were presented as a single number for each tire, instead of the standard twelve measurements (three per tire) to indicate a thorough assessment. Upon inspecting the vehicle, I discovered a noticeable 4-inch scratch. More concerningly, my measurements indicated the tire tread depth was around 2.8mm. According to BMW's CPO guidelines (and common sense), this is below the minimum requirement. When I raised these concerns, particularly regarding the tires, I was met with resistance from the management. The manager, Nick Klepper, was dismissive and unprofessional. He insisted the car passed CPO inspection and refused to consider any improvements, stating unequivocally that even if the tires were below 3mm, it didn't matter. His attitude was that, as a high-volume CPO dealer in the Midwest, their process was infallible, and my concerns were irrelevant. His inspection shows 3.1 on one tire and 3.3 on the other three. This strongly suggested to me that Baron BMW's priority is to quickly flip vehicles with minimal reconditioning, evidenced by their lack of detail to the CPO and an attempt to push a non-removable $699 CalTrex Resistall application. Despite my salesperson being helpful and the service manager, Joe, initially seeming willing to address the tire issue, the final decision from Nick, Brandon, and the GM was that spending a mere $2,000 on tires to bring the vehicle up to CPO specification was not "worth keeping a happy customer." This is unacceptable for a dealership selling a vehicle under the Certified Pre-Owned banner. I was even told that the tires would be replaced (after I walked out and was killing the deal) only to have that promise broken by management when I asked for it in writing once I started signing paperwork. The left hand does not seem to know what the right hand is doing at Baron. This lack of integrity and commitment to their CPO program is deeply troubling. Based on my experience, I strongly advise potential buyers, especially those looking for a genuine Certified Pre-Owned BMW, to stay far away from Baron BMW. Their practices regarding CPO certification appear questionable, their management can be rude and dismissive, and their commitment to customer satisfaction seems nonexistent. I will be filing a formal complaint with BMW North America regarding this dealership's apparent disregard for their CPO standards. My experience at Baron BMW was a complete waste of time and travel expenses, and it has left a very negative impression of this dealership. More
