Airbag recall I was scheduled in quickly and the repair was completed sooner than was quoted. They also notified me of other repairs needed. The honest and prompt I was scheduled in quickly and the repair was completed sooner than was quoted. They also notified me of other repairs needed. Great service, met schedule commitments; poor communication As a BMW owner out of state, Spokane is the nearest dealer to us for our service and warranty work. To be clear, the service and timeliness was very As a BMW owner out of state, Spokane is the nearest dealer to us for our service and warranty work. To be clear, the service and timeliness was very good. BMW's X5 product, warranty and comprehensive coverage is outstanding, we couldn't be happier. It was the inability and extreme difficulty in being able to talk to a person during the service experience and the lack of communication during the service that made this a poor experience. Frankly, this is all that tainted the experience. For background, we have to deliver our X5 with two vehicles/drivers from 250 miles away in Kalispell, MT. This means we bring it one weekend for a full week and pick up the following weekend. This leaves my wife without her vehicle for at least part of 2-weekends and 1 work week. For this last service, a family member dropped off the X5 on Monday morning 8/20, it was pulled inside. When your car is 250 miles away for service, you already "feel arms length and out of touch". At 9:30 AM that same day, I was impressed upon receiving a text offering for me to reply if I had any questions or concerns. I responded, asking Scott confirm you had the vehicle as I also wanted to review what we wanted checked/fixed/serviced ... I immediately sent the text, no response by phone or text. Over the next 3 days, I proceeded to call at least 5-6 times only to reach a 1-2-3 option for service, parts, and sales, and no answer from service. I left two messages, one on the main line and the other on Scott's extension. By Wed's night, I needed to confirm travel arrangements/another driver to pick it up, so I finally selected "Sales" wherein someone answered. I was on hold for 30-minutes during which the salesperson graciously kept me updated informing me that Scott would be with me in 5-minutes, then another 5-minutes, and so on. Finally the salesperson came on and told me Scott would call me back in 10 minutes as soon as he wrapped up what he was working on. Scott called me back over an hour later, around 6:30-7PM Kalispell time. I did appreciate Scott calling me back, obviously he was busy and followed up even though the late hour. Once we connected, Scott was knowledgeable and helpful and I was able to confirm what had been done to our X5 and that it was ready to be picked up. I confirmed with him he had completed the requested items, but asked him to change the oil and confirm that the previous filter housing leak was fixed. He confirmed this, and did change the oil under warranty. In the end, I feel the vehicle had a good check-up and repair of items were found prior to warranty expiration... for the most part. To transform this service experience from poor to excellent, ALL that was needed was the ability to talk to service by phone and not automated recordings, texts, or voicemail. In today's day in age, differentiating service requires communication. Preferably in the form of face to face, when not possible, by phone. Texts, e-mails, voicemail does not cut it.
