Osama In order to be reimbursed by the manufacturer under warranty for the repair or replacement of any part, the cause of the current issue must be diagnosed. Our testing, which was confirmed by BMW’s Technical Specialist Engineer, determined the cause to the second gear synchronizer is failing. Unfortunately, at 11 years old and 87,000 miles, the synchronizer is out of warranty. The SMG hydraulic unit, that was replaced previously, is functioning properly and not the cause of the synchronizer failing.
