30 Reviews of BMW of Minnetonka - Service Center
BMW of Minnetonka service department delivered a first class experience for me (again) this week. When my tire was punctured driving in St. Paul (large thin rusty strip of metal), I immediately called th class experience for me (again) this week. When my tire was punctured driving in St. Paul (large thin rusty strip of metal), I immediately called the dealership and let them know I’d be limping in (thank you, run-flats!). When I arrived, I was greeted by Josh the service manager who already knew why I was there, processed immediately (without appointment), and handed off to Toby (one of their service advisors). After the technician rapidly assessed the car on the lift and sent me a narrated video showing the significantly damaged tire, and Toby presented several tire options (with printed descriptions and pricing), I decided on my new tire purchase and work started right away. It wasn’t long (while I worked in their spacious lobby) before the car was mounted with the new tires, aligned, and ready! The tires are great and the alignment is perfect. Toby, Josh, the technician, and their porters did an exemplary job of turning the disruption of a blown tire into a very positive experience! I’ve had nothing but positive experiences with this service department for years, a huge factor in my choice to keeping going back to BMW of Minnetonka for my cars. More
Let me start with this; how on earth does BMW Minnetonka have 5 stars as reviews on their website? I brought my BMW e46 M3 in for a diagnostic at BMW Braman Miami as my smg transmission did not want to shif have 5 stars as reviews on their website? I brought my BMW e46 M3 in for a diagnostic at BMW Braman Miami as my smg transmission did not want to shift. Their service department (Aaron Vasquez),who has zero technical knowledge about anything with four wheels, informed me that the initial repair bill would be around $4.000,- but could possibly be more as they went along. he did receive all service records for work done by Minnetonka BMW stealership which showed that the complete smg system had been replaced 1 year prior. I took the car back after paying $400.00 for their pleasure of 'Diagnosing' the issue. only to receive a video afterwards of them inspecting the vehicle and one employee making derogaratory comments me taking back the car and not letting them do the 'repairs'. I took the car back to my workshop and decided to investigate myself. Shockingly I discovered that the BMW Stealership in Minnetonka had failed to properly instal the retaining spring for the pin that connects the shift rod to the transmission rod so the pin could fall out and disconnect the coupling bushing. Minnetonka BMW also ‘forgot’ to install the y-torsion bar at the rear of the car (had to buy a new one) amongst many missing bolts in various places underneath the car at crucial points. Sloppy work from their ‘professional’ mechanics. The disconnected connector bushing was all it was. I reconnected (properly this time) and the car shifts like a dream. BMW BRAMAN Stealership wanted to rip me off for $4,000.- and most likely more if I had given them the opportunity by their ' professional' mechanics. Braman and Minnetonka dealership are incompetent and dishonest dealerships trying to steal from hard working people doing sloppy work. AVOID THIS DEALERSHIP AT ANY COST!!! Mr. Kotnour was impossible to get hold of despite many messages left. He could apparently not be bothered to attend to an inquiry that would not generate revenue but just time for sloppy work they performed in the past. More

Here we are 1 month later it is leaking a bigger puddle on the garage floor!! Toby says bring it in now it needs a 6000.00 fix but he will give the 80 yr old vulnerable adult a great price on the work “needed”. I the daughter have called and left messages for Toby but no call back,he just needs the money. Sounds like a BBB call has to be made . Very sad to take advantage of people from the era of honesty. Don’t go there!! More

If I could rate my experience at a negative 20, I would. in 2018 BMW got a class action lawsuit filed against them for all N63 engines. I was told that my car never had the Customer Care Package done- after in 2018 BMW got a class action lawsuit filed against them for all N63 engines. I was told that my car never had the Customer Care Package done- after a couple days of research on BMWs side ... so I said well let’s get that done and so I brought it in! About 15 hours in, which carried into the next day, I got a call back saying the CCP was already done in 2015... well that’s funny because this class action lawsuit for the N63 didn’t come up until 2018!!!!!!!! So BMW tried to swindle me into believing “your car was already done” when I know it wasn’t because my lawyer even looked over all my service records and called multiple BMW dealers to confirm this while BMW Minnetonka was researching my service records from before I brought the car in... and they even confirmed the CCP was never done. This CCP is supposed to take about 15-20 hours to look into the car and BMW Minnetonka got it done in 2 hours....??? Impossible. They don’t look out for your best interest, they decide to be crooks. When my car was “done with no problems” after 2 hours.... I offered to bring in my lawyer and discuss the whole packet that states the N63 class action lawsuit and what they need to replace/go over. Not once did they check my oil pan gasket, timing chain, fuel injectors, mass air flow sensors, crankcase vent lines, battery, engine vacuum pump and low pressure fuel sensor are all things that are also in the settlement. They stated everything checked out, without tearing the car apart they ASSUMED nothing was wrong and tried to get my to foot the bill for this!! So of course they do a “second test” and found out there are some issues with the car ( without telling me what) so they said BMW NA said “engine replacement” and that they could settle for $4.5k out of pocket for everything said and done and I asked if there was anyway I could wait a couple weeks to come up with the money and they said YES that is just fine as long as you don’t go over 120k miles... so I go to pick my car up and some little xxxx beat the living xxxx out of my car I could hear him outside the service door and he almost hit the service door also if it wasn’t for my brakes being amazing.. so then I decide to check the rear tires and they were hot as xxxx as if someone just did a fat burnout with my car!!! So I left irritated without anyone to care about what just happened... so I went home and decided to check over my car, I then saw that my USB port was completed bashed in and missing, as if there was never a USB port there to begin with... I CALL the next day to complain about my service.. and they stuck up for this dude and said “no one would do that to anyone’s car, come on” and they also said they DO NOT recall saying 4.5k to us about paying out of pocket for this engine replacement, they now want 6.5k!!!!so I decided to give all of this information to my lawyer. Have you ever heard of someone getting hit with a lawsuit FROM a lawsuit??? This is the most dishonest, reckless and irresponsible BMW dealer I have ever been to. BMW My car ran fine when I brought it in, I was just adding oil every 500-600 miles, which adds the xxxx up. After I got my car back my car ran like absolute crap. Do Not Go To This BMW DEALER THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF More

He was most conscientious in his work, taking time to clean surfaces and parts before reassembling components. We will continue to have our vehicle serviced here and will always ask for Sam. 7.5 Weeks to make repairs. And I still dont have my car!! I really wish I were not writing this review; I wish I were praising the service department. I had the misfortune of having an accident with my 335xi I really wish I were not writing this review; I wish I were praising the service department. I had the misfortune of having an accident with my 335xi the 7th of March. I had my vehicle towed here for an estimate and the repairs. So, 7.5 weeks later I still do not have my vehicle. I tried to get updates twice last week, but call was disconnected and then I never got a call from my 2nd attempt. So, I asked my spouse to call last Friday and we found out it was finished but they were waiting for final payment from Ins Co. I waited all day for a call to let me know I can get my car, as luck would have it that did not happen. I called them again today a bit miffed and was told my service advisor was not available and that he would call back. To my surprise he did and not long after I had called. Kudos!! He informed me that they are waiting on final payment and so we went thru what they received and I what I have as well and he said they sent in another estimate last week and he called the INS co. THIS am. I informed him I need the amount and date it was sent. He did not have that info readily available. I informed him that they dropped the ball on this and that I should not have had to wait 7.5 weeks and that they need to get this taken care of ASAP. I then called the Ins Co and gave the info and they found the final estimate that they received TODAY! I am so over BMW it is not funny. I regret buying a vehicle from this place. Unfortunately, the value of my car is has steadily declined since I bought my vehicle. BMW's once stellar reputation in customer service and everything they stood for is no more and has not been for some time. BMW has lost sight and touch with their customer base. I am looking for the day when I can trade in and trade up. I just guess that the bad customer service that I have experienced with BMW trickles all the way down to the service center. Well I have had problems with this service center from the start. I had to inform them what was wrong with the head unit for my 335xi because they couldn't figure it out.. I will never make another purchase at this dealership and will never purchase another BMW again! More

The day before my wife and her girlfriends were to drive my 640i X from Minneapolis to International Falls, something went wrong with the restraint system. This left it barely drivable but it needed immediate attention at the dealership. I took it to the service department hoping they could squeeze it in. Because after all, this was a (domestic) emergency. It was late in the day so they were completely booked and out of loaners. I was going to have to tell my wife and her friends that they couldn’t use the BMW 640 for their long-planned trip. It occurred to me that I might appeal to the sales department. When I told Chris Peterson, the sales manager my dilemma he said “no problem “ and pointed to a 640i X on the lot and said I could take it for the trip. Chris Sommerfeld, my sales person, took it from there; had it washed and filled with gas then handed me the key. As I was leaving he said don’t bother to fill it when you bring it back. I was -and AM- so grateful that I tell this story every chance I get. Many thanks again to bot Chris Peterson and Chris Sommerfeld. You cemented my loyalty to BMW of Minnetonka. More

Horrible experience from start to finish. Took twice as much time as they quoted me after guilting me into waiting versus getting a loaner. When I went to inquire about it there was NOBODY who could help me for 30 minutes. No manager and no service agents in any of the 8 booths. Multiple people had pulled up and were just wondering what to do with the car they were dropping off. I had a coupon which multiple people told me would be honored then the manager of all people said he wouldn't honor when I went to pay, even though all his people had already committed to honoring. Then when I went to leave it was going to be another 30 minutes to clean the car so I told them to skip it and they brought the car out with writing on the windows that denoted the time they committed to being done by; so I had to go home and wash my windows to get that off of it. Never take your car to get serviced or buy a car from these people. More

On at least 3 occasions the time it took to get something done has been well over double the time they said it would take. On all 3 occasions I was discouraged from getting a loaner as they were all supposed to be an hour or less appointments. At no time has anyone contacted me when it goes beyond that time. I’ve had to ask repeatedly as to what is going on. Today, after waiting 90 minutes and being told my tire change was still not finished, I asked to speak to a service manager. I stood around in the service department for literally 30+ minutes as my service rep wandered around looking for a manager and STILL wasn’t able to find one. They then offered to slap on my tires and let me drive off without balancing them. So after 2 hours of this, I talked to my sales rep that sold me the car 2 years prior. It took another 15 minutes of him wandering around looking for someone before I was finally able to speak with a manager. When I told him I shouldn’t have to pay for such poor service and mentioned that I would write reviews such as this, he accused me of threatening behavior. Long story short, they did the service charge away, but I will never go back to this place again not could I in any good conscious recommend it to anyone if they value their time and money. More
