BUYER BEWARE. If you purchase a vehicle from BMW Houston North do not believe a CARFAX report. I recently purchased a 1 owner vehicle for more than $40K. During If you purchase a vehicle from BMW Houston North do not believe a CARFAX report. I recently purchased a 1 owner vehicle for more than $40K. During my inspection of the vehicle, I noticed the gap between the hood and front quarter panel went from 3/8” to “0”. I immediately asked if this vehicle was involved in an accident, and the answer I received should have been a red flag. The salesman responded with “The CARFAX says no.” I found that to be an odd answer, but I would review the CARFAX for myself. I purchased this vehicle and when I got it home, I did a total clean and wax on the car. I immediately noticed that the car has been painted on the front quarter panel. You could clearly see where the painter’s tape was when it was painted because they did a terrible job taking off the overspray. I mentioned this with my salesman the next Monday and told him that the vehicle has clearly been involved in an accident and has been repaired and should have been priced as it has been involved in an accident. The salesman response was “Just because the CARFAX says the car was not in an accident, only means that the repairs were not disclosed to insurance provided repairs.” I insinuated that the dealership did the repairs and then never updated the CARFAX. The salesman swears up and down that the car must have been painted before it was brought to them. Keep this in mind. It was a 1 owner car, and they are claiming that a person would go through the trouble of paying out of pocket to repaint a car that they were going to trade in. I find this hard to believe, but you will need to decide for yourself what the truth is. More
The dealership was very honest with me about the vehicle that was for sale. There inform me that the vehicle was a need of some necessary repairs and the repairs will be a little bit too much to have it up that was for sale.
