I purchased a used 2016 BMW from this BMW of Gainesville, FL in 2017. At the time I was offered a six-year extended warranty on this vehicle. Initially I declined, but due to high pressure from the finance FL in 2017. At the time I was offered a six-year extended warranty on this vehicle. Initially I declined, but due to high pressure from the finance manager I gave in and purchased the extended warranty. I signed the contract and shame on me for not reading the details, but I was not aware that the six years started from when the car was put into sales in December 2015. As a consumer I realize and accept the fact that it is my responsibility to read every detail of my contract, but I also think a reputable business would disclose this fact up front. This is an important detail, since I essentially only got four years of a six-year plan. So, imagine my surprise when I took it to a different dealership for routine maintenance July 2022 only to find out that my warranty expired December 2021. I called the dealership in Gainesville to discuss the nondisclosure and I was told, "well you signed the contract". Omitting facts in sales are essentially lies to the consumer. I would not have purchased an expensive six-year warranty had I been told that it began when the car hit the lot. I am disappointed with the high pressure to purchase the plan, the fact I bought the plan and that I signed the contract without reading every detail of the contract. I am sure I am not alone in stating that the multitude of pages handed out during a car purchase makes it near impossible to read everything. I signed in good faith thinking I was made aware of all the important details, when in fact I was not. I would not recommend this company based on the unscrupulous business practice. More
