Consistently BAD Sales & Service Department Poor customer service at both the sales center and the service center. Being a local resident in RVC I wanted to purchase my car locally so my first Poor customer service at both the sales center and the service center. Being a local resident in RVC I wanted to purchase my car locally so my first stop was the BMW sales center in Freeport in July 2017. I met with Keith Lindsay and expressed my interest in buying a 440i with a manual transmission. He decided I want to lease a 430i with an automatic transmission because that's what was available with the color/trim I wanted. Like a typical salesman he started high with prices in excess of $750/month. I told him he's wasting my time because it's not the vehicle I want and the price is not even close to being competitive. He countered with it being "in my best interest to purchase the car from him because if I bring my car to get serviced at BMW in Freeport, they will be less inclined to work with me and offer me a courtesy car when I go for service if I purchase from another dealer." After being threatened by Keith I decided to take my business to Competition BMW of Smithtown who offered to custom order the car I want at a great price!!! Fast forward to this week when my tire light comes on so I decide despite my experience with Keith, that I'll give the Freeport service department a chance at earning my business. Different department, same result. I arrive at the service center Saturday morning for a 10:40am appointment for my tire service. I met service manager Steve Itkin, who began the conversation by saying that he's not sure he can do the work because he's not sure what tire insurance Competition BMW sold me and that Freeport only sells BMW tire insurance, not third party. I asked him to call Competition BMW and he told me I have to call them or find the paperwork. After seeing I was not happy with that answer he called his "friend" at Competition BMW and got the information. Next he proceeded to tell me it will take at least 2 to 3 hours for them to look at the tire that has a leak. At this point it was clear to me that BMW of Freeport doesn't want my business. I later got my car serviced at Rallye BMW in Westbury and the service advisor, Adam Romano said he didn't need the paperwork for my tire insurance because he can look it up with my VIN number. So clearly Steve Itkin was not trying to work with me, as Keith Lindsay hinted at when I was looking to purchase my car. If you're looking for a good price without the typical dealer sales tactics, stay away from BMW of Freeport. The trip out to Competition BMW in Smithtown is worth it. They have an honest sales team that puts their customers first. Take the trip out to Smithtown, you can save a lot of money and the sales experience is 5 stars. More
