Disappointed with everything except Andi G. interaction Very bad service and attitude of the service advisor left a very bad taste. Initially he never responded few texts and few voicemails until Andi stepp Very bad service and attitude of the service advisor left a very bad taste. Initially he never responded few texts and few voicemails until Andi stepped in and arranged the loaner vehicle. All problem started after oil change and explanation was that vehicle doesn’t have break down schedule. Engine misfires so need to change ignition coils and spark plug for 4004 recommended replacement of all 6 for 1458 along with recommended oil gasket leak for 878. I requested to pack up as didn’t have trust with such a bad experience and let me when car is ready to pick up. Seems like Andi, Service Manager stepped in Again. She decided to take care of the faulty one as good will. I picked up and noticed that only ignition coil but no spark plug on work order. Contacted again service advisor, John Macdonald by text why spark plug not replaced when it was recommended. He responded with ALL CAPS that they cleaned the spark plug and replaced the coil for free and car is fine so sounded like why this question. That was very disappointing and disrespectful. I didn’t ask for free replacement. I asked them to pack up as I couldn’t trust the advisor and hence the dealership. So much of attitude and ignoring of message left a very bad feeling. This was first time I brought my car for dealership as my daughter visited your store to pick up a quart of oil few months ago and I decided as she was talking good about you guys. All the goodwill has gone to drain. Andi tried to make things right. If you are too busy then let your manager know but to ignore messages is not acceptable. And if you don’t have text etiquettes and reply with ALL CAPS , then you should stay away from reply by test or from social media. Ask manager for training. Simple solution was to pick up the phone what was done. When you quote for replacement of coil and plug but replace only coil that itself shows your commitment. If customer pay replace everything, but shop does than take all short cuts. Very very bad. I was going to other dealership for 10 plus year but not felt a single time being dis-respected and disappointed. More
My thompson bmw car and service nightmare I bought a CPO 2013 BMW 328 I x-drive in 2016 from thompson. My family and I have gotten several cars from thompson….Never again. The car has been not I bought a CPO 2013 BMW 328 I x-drive in 2016 from thompson. My family and I have gotten several cars from thompson….Never again. The car has been nothing but problems and has bled me dry. The car was in the shop for non-routine maintenance frequently the last 3 years and I've spent thousands to fix this car. The car now has 95,000 miles on it and has had two catastrophic engine failures. I was on my way to a wedding reception and my car broke down in the middle of the busy intersection of 202 and Bristol road. Car would not go into neutral so I could not push it to the side. I had to stand in the rain, in the middle of a busy highway to wave cars around me so they wouldn’t collide with my car. I had it towed to Thompson service to give them an opportunity to make this, and all that happened with this car in the past, right. They wanted $3,500 to fix. They offered me $500 off this service I assume because the car was in their shop so many times and because the car only have 95K mikes on it. So $3,000 total. Car is not worth $6k at this point and I owe $10,500 on it all before the $3,000 engine fix. I felt insulted that all they offered me $500. My family and I have purchased/leased several cars from this company. This particular BMW had over $15,000 of work at thompson. I spent over $20k to purchase this particular car. They valued this long term relationship at $500. My experience has taught me that the only part of the customer that BMW and thompson care about is they wallet in your pocket. So I had it re-towed somewhere else. the actual fix cost $1,300. I offer you my rules for owning a BMW: Rule #1: Never own a BMW, especially not a CPO or used one unless you get it at ½ price of the dealers best price. You’re going to need all that purchase price savings for future extraordinary maintenances. In my experience, they are not built well so by the time you own it (4 - 6 years), the service bills ( think non routine maintenance, things that shouldn't go wrong but do) exceed the value the car / loan. This car had engine knocking reported during the warranty period which they said they fixed which I believe connected to this engine failure. I have had many, many issues with this car… Too many to list here but one found memory is that the car floors filled up with water 3 times and made the car smell like cat urine. The service center said it was the vapor guards needed to be replaced. They said this was normal and expected from a “luxury” vehicle. They are close to $500 a piece to replace. This is why I believe they are not made well. Rule #2 Only lease them, but find a dealer that cares about customers and long term relationship. In my experience, they depreciate quickly and have major repairs needed after the warranty expires. I find BMWs are good and fun for 3 years MAX. If it were me, I would not hold a bmw after 3 years Rule #3: If you do find yourself in the owning position, get service from an idy bmw shop. The savings are HUGE. In my two critical car failure experiences, the savings was in the thousands. Rule# 4: Don’t expect thompson or BMW to stand behind their product. They just care about the cash grab from your to their pocket. As I mentioned above. They valued our relationship at $500. After all I, and my family, spent over the years there. In the end, I, and everyone that knows me, found the car to be broken most weeks and that it was the ultimate service center revenue generating machine. I, and my family, will never do business with thompson again. More
