This is a warning to anybody considering shopping for a car at Avondale Toyota. Way back in April I placed a deposit on a 2022 Camry hybrid. I was told by the sales manager, whilst there was no guarante car at Avondale Toyota. Way back in April I placed a deposit on a 2022 Camry hybrid. I was told by the sales manager, whilst there was no guarantee, I 'should' receive the vehicle by the beginning of July at the latest. In order to secure a vehicle, Toyota Avondale requested a $500 deposit. I kept checking in with the sales manager only to be told I was still on the waiting list. I asked for regular updates on inventory and got little to no response. I did keep checking in with them and after months of waiting, I was told that now I was at the top of the waiting list. I was hopeful that the car would now materialize. More weeks passed by and after another inquiry, I was now told I was in fact ninth on the list and not top. I was informed again that we will be getting our new allocation update on Monday and I will be contacted. That of course never happened and the dangling carrot scenario continued. We are now at the beginning of September and still nothing. Very little in the way of communication you would expect from a reputable Toyota dealer. I feel I have been doing all the leg work with little to no response from the sales manager. Out of frustration, I requested I would consider gas options for the Camry and was again promised inventory updates which didn't materialize. I feel I have been part of a baiting campaign where Avondale deliberately dangles the carrot to stop you from shopping with other dealerships. I think if I had a trade-in I would have surprisingly moved up the list a lot quicker. They've now had my $500 deposit since the beginning of April and it was now the end of September. I have had enough of the games so I requested my deposit refunded to my credit card. The refund was supposedly done on September 22nd but nothing received so far and we are now 10 days into October. I've contacted the sales manager and he's insisted it was refunded. I asked him to check again and of course, he failed to respond. He did respond after a 4th attempt only to tell me sarcastically it had been refunded. I went to plan B and contacted the dealership manager. He was in a meeting but I was told he would call me back. That of course never happened. No surprise there! After waiting an additional 2 days with no response I went to plan C by calling my credit card and opening a disputed charge case. In the meantime, I decided to check other Phoenix Toyota dealerships and was fortunate to contact Daniel at Surprise Toyota. Extremely, honest courteous, and professional. He immediately told me exactly what they had on their lot and was able to tell me what was in their next shipment and confirm there was a car in the color and model coming in. I secured the deposit and picked up the vehicle yesterday. Total process less than 3 days! Amazing service. I would never ever shop for a car at Avondale Toyota again. The most unprofessional car dealership I have encountered so far. I warn future customers that they will continue to give you the runaround and are extremely unresponsive. Alleviate the stress and go to another dealership other than Avondale Toyota. More
