Only issue I had was at the close of the deal, I had to go to the dealership to drop off my car and finish paper work, then drive to get my car at the detail shop, them back to the dealership. Other than that, great experience. More

I then sat down with James to work out the details, at which point I asked to see the CarFax report to ensure the vehicle had no significant prior damage. James showed me a CarFax with a VIN number that I checked and ensured matched up to the VIN # on the 2008 Honda Pilot I was interested in buying. The CarFax showed a clean history, with no reported accidents. Based on this information, we settled on a purchase price. When I went to pick up the car a few days later, I was handed paperwork that did not include the CarFax. Because I do not engage in purchasing cars frequently, I was unaware of the required paperwork so I did not think to ask for it. I was contacted by James several month later who informed me that the CARFAX Vehicle History Report I was shown by Dedham Auto was in fact fraudulent. He told me to run the CarFax Report directly from the CarFax website and compare to what was shown me. It was at this point that I realized the CarFax report I was shown was not provided to me by Dedham Auto Mall. I ran the CarFax report from the website and found that my car had been in two accidents, including 1 major accident where the airbags were deployed and the vehicle suffered structural damage. The CarFax Report also states that the car should be priced at $2,860 below retail book value. Had this information been made available to me at the time of my Dedham Auto Mall visit, I would not have entered into the purchase. More

The car appeared to be in good condition but my immediate concern was regarding the age and mileage of the car. A 2010 BMW that had 48,000 miles would be out of warranty in 2,000 miles. The sales person from Dedham Automall thought differently, as he assured me that the car was in great condition. He also added to his point stating that the car had never been in an accident before, and that I could purchase an extended bumper-to-bumper warranty to cover any issues that could occur with the car for another 3 years or additional 50,000 miles. I closed the deal and purchased my first BMW, a car that would cost me $422.00 per month for the next 72 months. I was extremely content with my decision at first, but that feeling didn't last very long. I had the car for a couple of days before I came to have my first bad experience with it. I came to the conclusion that the car had definitely had been in accident before. I noticed a bump on the right side rocket panel which appears to be poor body work. I also noticed different shades of spray paint on the rear bumper and on the headlights of the car, and an emblem that was missing from the left-front fender. I didn't mind too much about the dings on the body and missing emblem, but then I noticed other things that were more noticeably wrong with the car. The lever for the vents was missing from all four vents, the radio controls on the steering wheel didn't work, and the USB port was bent. I spoke with the sales person who sold me the car about the issues, and he instructed me to take the car to their repair shop. I took the car to the recommended repair shop and they fixed the missing fan levers, steering wheel controls, the bent USB port, and they gave me another emblem for the front panel. I was satistified with the results of my first experience. A month and a half later I discovered a few additional issues with the car. The driver side door was leaking water on the rocket panel when it rained. The other problem was that the steering wheel was stiff and was making a cranking noise when the wheels were turned at low speeds. I took the car back to the repair shop. They attempted to correct the leak on the rocket panel by replacing the seal around the door. I was told the steering wheel was fine and the stiffness and noise were characteristics of the car. I was upset about both issues, but the steering issue is a major concern of mine. I did some research online regarding the steering problem and I came across articles referencing similar issues to what I was experiencing. I called the repair shop back to express my frustrations about the unresolved problems. They pushed back multiple times on the steering issue but agreed to take another look. They would also address the leak at the same visit. I have taken the car in for the same repairs approximately four times now and both issues still have not been resolved. It has now been six months I have been trying to have these issues resolved. The most recent issue led me to write this notice about Dedham Automal. I brought the car in to the recommended repair shop because I had yet another issue. I came to find out there is a leak coming from the radiator and a sensor near the radiator. I was told this was not covered under my bumper-to-bumper warranty and that the repair would cost me $800.00. This is concerning due to the previous issues I have had with the car. It leads me to believe it has been through some serious problems that would have caused the cracked radiator. Despite that the car is not under warranty, it is intriguing that a two year old BMW bought from a reputable dealership would have this kind of problem. I take ownership of my responsibilities, and would be willing to pay for something that I should pay for. I want to be sure I am not being taken advantage of and want to be taken seriously. This notice is not intended to criticize Dedham Automall, however I do take customer service and good business practice very seriously. I would also like to make sure nobody else has to go through what I have had to go through. Perhaps this opportunity can be used to improve Dedham Automall's way of doing business and satisfy a customer's need. The repair shop is doing a good job and trying to show good faith; but this outcome has financial impacts on me such as paying $800.00 for the repairs and taking time off work to take the car into the shop. These repair costs are in addition to the monthly payment on the car. **These are the facts and they are not twisted out of context. When I came to look at the car I had my 2 year old daughter with me. All the guys that were there were great with entertaining her while I was talking to Arthur about the car I wanted. One even let her sit in a mercedes convertable. Arthur answered all the questions that I had about the car and wasn't pushy with the sale. I had to come back the next day to finish paperwork because I had to leave for work. He didn't seem disappointed that I had to leave without finishing the sale. He was just as friendly the second day as he was the first day. I definitley recommend Dedham auto mall for your next automobile purchase. Scott Tolman More
