I took my BMW 538I in for a recall on the fuel pump, While fixing the fuel pump it was discovered that I had a problem which needed attention. That was fixed and an oil change was done. Service was friendly and they kept me updated. The initial quote of fixing my bumper was $525. They did the best they could without replacing the whole thing and ended up charging me $425. Auto Start-Stop Button Left car for start-stop button to be re-programmed to the off position and for tint to be installed. For some reason, BMW does not allow the button to Left car for start-stop button to be re-programmed to the off position and for tint to be installed. For some reason, BMW does not allow the button to be programmed in the off position. Bummer! This is not convenient for me, but guess I'll have to live with it. Would recommend that BMW look into this since it isn't a safety feature. It should be left up to the driver to determine the driving position just like having the radio, navigation system, or air conditioning system under the driver's control. If the lane departure warning feature can be turned off by the driver, which is a safety feature, then certainly the auto start-stop feature should be under driver control. Would like to hear from someone from BMW Corporate on this one. Other than this issue, which was not the service department's fault, the service was fine and life is good! More
