Integrity not required? Friendly doesn't mean honest! I conducted considerable research and did my homework via Trucar.com, Edmunds, NADA, Dodge RAM forums, speaking with two different mechanics who are D I conducted considerable research and did my homework via Trucar.com, Edmunds, NADA, Dodge RAM forums, speaking with two different mechanics who are Dodge RAM experts, and followed up with several weeks of searching for comparables in my budget for a used Dodge RAM 2500 Laramie Megacab with 6.7l diesel engine. Armed with this knowledge I felt secure I would have a great experience with negotiating a fair price for me and whichever dealer I choose to do business with. I narrowed my search from roughly 15 vehicles nationwide to three, which were within reasonable driving distance in my region. I negotiated with two of the three dealerships, including Hendersonville Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. The other dealer clearly understood my budget and worked with me to make an offer in writing I felt was fair (only thing was I preferred the color combination of the Hendersonville vehicle). I took the other dealer's offer for a comparable vehicle with slightly less mileage and shared it with the internet salesperson at Hendersonville Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. A couple days after speaking with Todd Stamey and Kurt (used car manager) during an earlier test drive, I received a text from Brooke (internet sales), and then finally after a phone call with Dustin (GM) and more texting with Brooke, I felt we were close enough for me to drive to the dealership and close the deal. I was offered a very specific price plus taxes, tag, and title via text, and told they might be able to close some of the remaining gap I had with fees but they didn't have much room. I was told I needed to ask for Saul when I arrived. When I arrived after driving the 20 minutes from work, I was greeted by Kurt and Todd and asked to wait a few minutes while Saul finished up on something (I didn't wait long). Saul emerged and offered me a price that was $1700 MORE than what was offered via text (from Dustin/Brooke) plus taxes, tag, and title. I figured it was a misunderstanding since I'd spoken with so many people and asked him to confirm. When I mentioned the offer from text, he did not hesitate and said HIS offer was the offer. I immediately left very frustrated that I had been told one thing and wasted the drive to the dealership and my time after a long day of work. It was a classic bait and switch! Moral of the story?: Friendly doesn't always mean honest. More

Frustrating I called the dealer's phone number to inquire about a specific vehicle I saw on their website and to see if it was still available before driving in t I called the dealer's phone number to inquire about a specific vehicle I saw on their website and to see if it was still available before driving in to check it out. The lady I spoke with said there's been a lot of interest in that vehicle and in fact, someone had driven it the previous night and she would have to see if they put a deposit on it. (On hold). She came back to say that after checking, there was no deposit to hold it and it was available. I said we'd check it out and asked if we should ask for her when we arrived. She said yes, and gave me her name. My wife and I drove in (to NC) from TN to see the vehicle. To our surprise (or not), she was not there! We were told she was at a different location. I told the sales staff that we were interested in a specific car we saw on their website. We were told by these sales folks that there was a lot of interest in that car and they would check on the status of the vehicle. They ushered us into a sales office to get more information from us and to find out what kind of features we want in a vehicle. I reminded them (again) that we were only interested in THAT car. To our surprise (or not) they couldn't locate the vehicle but they'd keep looking and would pull it up shortly. Thirty minutes later we were told they found the vehicle. It was across the street being serviced and needed a new battery and that they were sorry it was unavailable at the moment. Seemed odd, since we were told that it had been driven the night before. Sad to say, that this experience isn't unusual. Dealerships advertise a vehicle and a deal to get you in, but the vehicle is not there when you arrive to see it. Unfortunately this seems to be a common practice among dealerships as this is not the first time we've experienced this process. As we drove home they called to say that it was now ready to drive and asked if we would like to return and see it. Really? I'm not kidding. And on the way home, we bought a car...somewhere else. More
