Everything was the same, oil leaking still and the steering wheel was still making noise. Every time I return to the car for you to look at, Michael tries to charge me more money for something else. I would sit there and wait for hours only for my car not to be fixed. More

The ABS Brake System issue for which I took my 2012 Toyota Highlander Hybrid to AutoNation Toyota for repairs remains unresolved. The diagnosis of the issue was that the Brake Booster Pump and Acc Toyota Highlander Hybrid to AutoNation Toyota for repairs remains unresolved. The diagnosis of the issue was that the Brake Booster Pump and Accumulator (47070-48060) and the Brake Master Cylinder Reservoir (47220-48220) were bad and that they needed to be replaced. I was a bit surprised that I was charged the retail price for these items because 15 months earlier, the ABS Actuator (47070-48010) had been replaced on this vehicle under a recall by Central Florida Toyota at no charge. Now, two other components of the ABS system were defective but no recall warranty coverage was applied though I was offered a 10% discount so the total cost of this repair was $1737.13. While expensive I did not complain at the time because the vehicle is 10 years old (though it only has 105,000 miles). I picked the car up from AutoNation seven days ago. It was only driven to the airport and back and this is only the second day that I have driven it since it was repaired. I was disturbed to notice that the ABS pump was turning on and pumping audibly about every five to ten seconds. After having driven it about 90 miles, a warning chime sounded and the dash display flashed a message saying that there was a brake system error and the master warning light (i.e. "!"), brake system light, ABS light, and traction control warning light all came on just as they had before I brought it to AutoNation for repairs a week ago. When I turned the car on again, only the master warning light flashed and then went off after a few seconds. Even so, the brake booster pump continues to power on every five to ten seconds. Something is obviously still wrong with this vehicle. The brake booster pump and accumulator may indeed have been broken or worn out and needed to be replaced but from the perspective of a fluid hydraulic system it seems obvious that there is an internal leak that is causing the pressure to drop which triggers the brake booster pump to turn on repeatedly. An online search turned up this video which describes exactly the symptoms that my Highlander Hybrid is experiencing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4_qv9bZfYY The video states that this is cause by the failure of the brake actuator, i.e. the same part that was replaced on my vehicle under warranty 15 months ago! It appears highly likely that AutoNation did not correctly diagnose that the actuator had failed again after being replaced 15 months ago which would have been covered under warranty. Instead, they replaced two other components of the ABS system and charged me $1737.13 for parts and labor. Tomorrow I will return to AutoNation Toyota to try and get this issue addressed with the service manager. As a final note, the price that AutoNation charged for the Brake Master Cylinder Reservoir (47220-48220) was $206.36 though it is available for $86.71 (including shipping) online from Amayama.com. The price charged by AutoNation for the Brake Booster Pump and the Accumulator (47070-48060) was $977.06 and the price quoted by direct sellers online is $726.21. Dealer markup of of 45% is what it is and I paid it without complaint on the first visit. The fact remains that the problem for which I first brought the vehicle in for repairs is not fixed and it appears that AutoNation Toyota may have ignored the real problem (second time failure of the brake actuator 47070-48010) and replaced components that were not actually broken. I am highly dissatisfied at the present time. I will gladly update my opinion after returning to AutoNation Toyota to have the issue addressed. More
