Went into service for battery clamps (RECALL), but also kept my battery running because I had to get a jump one hour earlier. The service representative said he could not change the battery because the st kept my battery running because I had to get a jump one hour earlier. The service representative said he could not change the battery because the statutes of limitation (WARRANTY) had run out. He said it would cost $199 for a new battery. I told him I could get a new battery at COSTCO for much less. It was my decision to not turn off the ignition and drive my car home, where I turned off the ignition, and did not start it until the next morning. It started immediately. Because the battery had ALWAYS performed quite well for the past two years, I believe I had accidentally left a battery draining switch in the on position while waiting in the parking lot for my daughter, and then going into the outpatient facility where she had surgery. About 2 hours passed when I went to the vehicle to start it, wherein the battery was dead. In essence, when reaching Toyota, I knew they had to turn off the ignition to do the designated clamp warranty service, wherein the service representative presented me with the scenario, if it did not restart after getting the warranty service, I would have to purchase a new battery. I told him if it didn't restart could they jump it so I could travel to Costco. He was not responsive to that scenario. Basically, I never had the warranty clamp service performed. More
