I purchased a brand new 2022 Toyota Highlander on 7/6/22 from AutoNation Toyota Thornton Road. The first deceptive practice they used was during the negotiation of purchasing the vehicle. The advertised onl from AutoNation Toyota Thornton Road. The first deceptive practice they used was during the negotiation of purchasing the vehicle. The advertised online price was $45,247 for the vehicle. When I attempted to buy the vehicle for that price, the dealership started adding additional items (blackout, rain package, appearance package, etc.) on the vehicle that I did not want. These unwanted add ons totaled $5,673. I was told that the only way to purchase this vehicle was to purchase it with the add ons that they would putting on the vehicle that day. I reluctantly agreed to purchase the vehicle at the higher than advertised price anyway because it was my wife's birthday and we were traveling about 2 hours from home to purchase the vehicle. I do have screen shots of these prices. The second deceptive practice was just straight out dishonesty. I was informed that Toyota had raised their rates on that day. Even though I had an 800+ credit score, I was informed that due to Toyota, the best possible interest rate possible was 5.9%. In my profession, integrity means everything. Taking the word of the dealership, I purchased the vehicle. I later learned on the AutoNation Toyota Thornton Road website that the advertised Toyota interest rate for that Highlander was 1.9%-3.9% from 7/6-8/1. There is no doubt with my credit score that I would have qualified for those interest rates. I also have screen shots of this advertisement. We do love the 2022 Toyota Highlander we purchased but we will never do business with this dealership or AutoNation again if this type of deception and dishonesty is condoned by this Corporation. This transaction was deceptive from the beginning to the end of the purchase. More
