I am in the market for a new vehicle and I have been buying new Toyotas since the 1990's. I have chosen Toyotas because of my perception that they are sufficiently reliable that they do not require many return trips to a dealer after a purchase is made. It is also important for me to have access to a dealer with a good service department in case I ever need repairs. Reliability and readily available service is important to me. I decided to accept the dealer's invitations to use their coupons for service work driving over to look at new show-room Toyotas while having service for an oil change. My 2017 Rav4 now has a little more than 17,000 miles and I decided that it would also be a good idea to have the tires rotated and have the wheels aligned. I was surprised to learn that the dealer no longer sells new vehicles off the floor. New vehicles have to be ordered, if at all. Before then, I was surprised to learn that the service writer has a free hand to be hostile and rude to customers. I should have walked out of the dealership at his first display of hostility, but I thought that maybe he was having an off day. It happens. I came to the dealership to take advantage of the dealer-provided coupons. I don't need to use them, I have sufficient money, but they were sent so I decided to do so. I asked for all the work to be done at one time and the service writer entered the information into his computer. Then he let me know that the service could not be done at one time with the coupons because they could not be combined. That would mean a second trip, and a little inconvenience to me, but OK. But that wasn't OK with the service writer because he would then need to change the information on his screen. After he displayed a little more rudeness, I told him to cancel the service for the tire rotation and wheel alignment. This seemed to annoy him even more. He let me know that this was going to increase the wait time. I should have left. I didn't. After 90 minutes, the oil still hadn't been changed. I learned my lesson. I won't be returning. I'll be looking at other brands. Customers don't need hostility and rudeness. For whatever reason or reasons, it seems that the dealership is going out of business. I think that this particular service writer is helping them. More
Always attentive and polite when arriving with car regardless of whether had appointment or drop in. Great at explaining details of car maintenance/ problem. This dealer auto service charged me $95 just for diagnosis on a car that said would buy for $250, I brought my car for service but they did not tell me ahead or clarified to me that if I decided NOT diagnosis on a car that said would buy for $250, I brought my car for service but they did not tell me ahead or clarified to me that if I decided NOT to get it fixed anymore they still were going to charge me almost a hundred dollars for diagnosing a 25-year-old car. I felt these charges were very unfair and overcharged. They did not even produce a report of inspection that would clearly show the main problem for which I was bringing the car for in the first place, so very very aggravated by the sum of money I paid for a service that all these past years have been voided! More
